COUNCIL
OF MONGOLIA
The Arts Council of Mongolia
(ACM) and the Foundation
for Sustainable Development
in Mountain Regions (FDDM)
announced the third SMArt
(Sustainable Mountain Art) artist-
in-residence program targeting
professional photographers and
media artists in 2022.
The SMArt program was es
tab
lished with the goal of streng
thening understanding of global
issues in mountain regions
among decision-makers and pro
moting intercultural exchange
and dialogue between artists and
audiences around the challenges
of mountain regions.
This year selected Byamba
Batkhuyag as the artist-in-resi
dence to Poschiavo, an alpine
region of Switzerland, from June-
September, 2022. Byamba is a
talented Mongolian photographer
whose diverse and powerful work
touches on clear links between
nature and people. During the
resi
dence program, he focused
on sustainable agriculture in
the mountains. His artwork was
exposed in Punto Rosso, Poschia
vo, in August-September in Swit
zerland. In November, Byamba
will present his exhibition in
Mon
golia.

The “Red Ger” creative
space of the Arts Council
of Mongolia (ACM) ini
tiates a variety of creative
activities aimed to promote
artists’exhibitions, increa
sing competitiveness,
and fos
tering creative
collaboration.
In the frame of the ACM
20th anniversary, ACM has
supported highlighted artists
by organizing a series of
solo exhibitions at the "Red
Ger" creative space. This
Sep
tember, Red ger crea
tive
space displayed “Tuna
mal’
exhibition by artist N.Ot
gon
bat from 6-13. From 16-
30th September, a media art
exhibition “HUUDNES” will
be displayed by media artist
B.Bat-Erdene.
Meanwhile, ACM’s Red
Ger Creative Space, is a cent
rally located space with 65
square meters of ‘potential’
usage to realize activities such
as exhibitions, workshops,
se
minars, conferences, and
so
cial events. The space can
be adapted to suit your busi
ness and training needs and
requirements, and also offers
a quiet, cozy reflective area
for more creative meditative
pursuits. Consider our space
as your co-working space,
as a personal studio, or, as a
mee
ting place for a series of
lectures and readings. The
pos
sibilities are there for you
to explore and discover.
Finally, we are proud to
announce that we support
emerging artists by organi
zing their exhibitions and an
nouncing open calls for artists
to exhibit artwork in 2023.

Creative Space coordinator at

Since 2008, the Arts
Council of Mongolia (ACM),
along with the generous
support of ACM-US, has
successfully implemented
a Fellowship Program
for empowering emerging
cultural leaders.
The program is designed
to enhance leadership, mana
gement, and marketing skills,
and deepen understanding of
cultural policy, arts advocacy,
and other related issues. Thus
far, ACM has completed four
teen phases of the Fellowship
Program with over three hun
dred arts and cultural ma
na
gers and artists who are cur
rently working in the field of
visual art, performing art, lite
rature, cultural heritage sites,
media, press, and arts admi
nistration.
This week marked the
launch of the 15th phase of the
ACM Fellowship Prog
ram.
For the occasion of the 15th
year of the fellowship prog
ram, ACM has established
the Fellowship alumni com
mittee group of graduate par
ticipants.
The committee group
will work on inspiring and
enga
ging graduate alum
ni
and expanding their part
ner
ship and networking by the
increasing role of artists and
art managers to contribute to
the sustainable development
of the arts and culture sector
and to build a better society.
This year ACM selected
20 arts managers and artists
from different art fields and
invited local and international
experts to conduct 22 full-day
and half-day training ses
sions
on arts management, leader
ship, fundraising, strategic
thin
king, leadership-sensitive
management, intellectual pro
perty, creative industry, and
arts marketing and commu
ni
cation.
Selected ACM Fellows
will be granted $1000 to im
plement a joint community
service project. The projects
will provide arts access and
arts education for youth and
the wider community through
online activities. All the
ACM Fellow projects will be
promoted and shared across
social media channels.
ACM would like to give a
special thank you to Mr.Wal
ter Jenkins and Mr.Dwight
Gee, ACM-US for supporting
the Fellows Program and pro
viding the opportunity for
many Mongolian arts and
culture leaders to grow and
participate in this prog
ram.
We would like to espe
cially
acknowledge Mr. Wal
ter
Jenkins for being an exem
plary program leader.
