The Arts Council of Mongolia has been implementing the "I can do it" arts education project since 2003 to enhance parents' skills and children's self-confidence through art. This year, with support from the Ministry of Culture, the project will provide art curriculum, tools and training to parents at home with their children during the pandemic. The project aims to assess the results of providing arts education remotely. The Arts Council of Mongolia and International Women's Federation are partnering to organize the second annual "Zoom: Artist in Leadership" campaign through online workshops and a media contest to create art that brings awareness to social issues and gender equality. menting 'I can do it' arts edu­
cation
project since 2003. The aim of the project is to
enhance parents’capacity to work with children
and enhance their life skills, self-confidence
through the art, with the help of professional
artists and educators.
With the support of the Ministry of Culture
and in part­
nership with the 10th kindergarten,
ACM is going to implement 'I can do it' art
therapy arts education project to enhance
capacity of parents staying at home with
children.
In the scope of the project,ACM is planning
to develop art curriculum and based on the
curriculum will prepare necessary art tools and
deliver them to the children’s homes.
Also, an online training series will be held
to educate the children's parents on the content
of the curriculum deliver methods to work with
their children at home.
The project process will be documented,
and feedback will be collected from the parents
and students to assess the results of the arts
education project.

Artist in Leadership' campaign
launched in June in the 10
online series of workshops for
5 days.
'Zoom: Artist in Leader­
ship' media contest is announ­
ced among media artists, con­
tent creators, with the dead­
line
on September 10. Creative
artworks are to be created
with the use of any type of
art expression, and have a
maximum length of 3 minutes,
bringing light to social issues
and solutions in order to make a
better society and raising awa­
reness of generation equa­
lity.

The 'Shining Horses'
Fellowship Award implemen­
ted by Arts Council of Mon­
golia (ACM) and supported
by the ACM-US, honors the
late Peter Morrow, the former
ACM Vice Chairperson and
the CEO of Khan Bank, is
designed to contribute into
the development of Mongolian
art and culture sector through
providing funding support for
professional development of
emerging artists.

Since 2013, the Arts
Council of Mongolia
has been organizing the
Ulaanbaatar In­
ternational
Film Festival (UBIFF) in
partnership with the City
Mayor’s Office, City Arts
and Culture Department, and
Nomadia Pictures. Currently,
UBIFF is the largest film
festival in Mon­
golia, and
it has been con­
tributing to
the sustainable development
of the Mongolian film
industry by providing ac­
cess
to world renowned cine­
ma and professional devel­
op­
ment and international
colla­
boration for local film
makers.
Since 2018, UBIFF has
been partnering with Locarno
Festival in Switzerland,
one of the “A-list”-ed
international film festivals
in the world. As part of
the partnership, Locar­
no
Festival has decided to in­
volve talents from the Mon­
golian film industry in its
Open Doors section between
2019-2021. The program
deve­
lops professional skills
of film directors and produ­
cers, moreover expands
inter­national co-production
oppor­
tunities for film
makers. Open Doors section
of Locarno Fes­
tival is
currently the only gate for the
under­
developed film industry
of Mongolia that opens new
horizon to the international
scene. In order to keep streng­
thening local film industry in
these transition edge, UBIFF
aims to widen its partnership
with Locarno Festival until
2021 and beyond.
2021 has been unpredic­
table due to COVID-19,
which has largely affected
cultu­
ral lives of cities with
implication for the existing
inequalities to access,
participation and contribution
to culture, access to public
spaces, and the financial sus­
tainability and the flow of
cultural goods and services.
Therefore, arts and cultural
institutions, and local artists
have been facing challenges
to live, to create and to
present their works. The
past pandemic months have
shown us the im­­
portance of
maintaining the sus­tai­nability
of cultural creations and
initiatives in all levels.
The 13th UBIFF will
take place in Ulaanbaatar
during October 18-24, 2021.
The festival is presenting its
traditional sections, including
Opening film com­
petition;
Mongolian film com­
petition,
Focus country - Russian
film showcase; Inter­
na­
tional
film showcase; Film forum
and Lab-training. This year,
the festival is presenting
17 feature films from 10
coun­
tries including Russia,
France, Germany, Iran,
Japan, Swit­
zerland, Thailand,
India, Fin­
land and Mongolia.
It has been an honor
working with an international
set of judges, including
UBIFF artistic director
Jigjid­
suren G., UBIFF
international artistic
director Anne Delseth, and
international programmer
Thibaut Braque.
