Mappings are the core of ETL processes and use SQL and operators to transform and move data between source and target schemas in Oracle databases. The mapping editor allows creating mappings visually using GUI elements and common operators like SQL. Mappings are deployed and validated before optimized code is generated for the target Oracle version.

This session covered these questions and more as we walked through reading execution plans. We saw how SQL breaks down the execution of your query and what each step tells us about the overall query. People are aware that you can use an execution plan to tune a query, but do they have other uses? This session will drill down on all the hidden information within execution plans. The structures and information with an execution plan shows many of the inner workings of SQL Server. From calculated columns to referential integrity, these, and many other functions, are exposed through execution plans. From this session you’ll be able to better understand the inner workings of SQL Server as well as your own databases and queries.

GoPro’s camera, drone, mobile devices as well as web, desktop applications are generating billions of event logs. The analytics metrics and insights that inform product, engineering, and marketing team decisions need to be distributed quickly and efficiently. We need to visualize the metrics to find the trends or anomalies. While trying to building up the features store for machine learning, we need to visualize the features, Google Facets is an excellent project for visualizing features. But can we visualize larger feature dataset? These are issues we encounter at GoPro as part of the data platform evolution. In this talk, we will discuss few of the progress we made at GoPro. We will talk about how to use Slack + Plot.ly to delivery analytics metrics and visualization. And we will also discuss our work to visualize large feature set using Google Facets with Apache Spark.

GraphQL: The Missing Link Between Frontend and Backend Devs

Engineers working on backend data services are often focused on operational concerns like data consistency, reliability, uptime, and storage efficiency. Because each situation calls for a specific set of tradeoffs, one organization can end up with a diverse set of backend databases and services. For the people building the UI and frontend API layers, this diversity can quickly become an issue, especially if the same client needs to call into multiple backends or fetch related objects across different data sources. GraphQL is a language-agnostic API gateway technology designed precisely to solve this mismatch between backend and frontend requirements. It provides a highly structured, yet flexible API layer that lets the client specify all of its data requirements in one GraphQL query, without needing to know about the backend services being accessed. Better yet, because of the structured, strongly typed nature of both GraphQL queries and APIs, it's possible to quickly get critical information, such as which objects and fields are accessed by which frontends, which clients will be affected by specific changes to the backend, and more. In this talk, I'll explain what GraphQL is, what data management problems it can solve in an organization, and how you can try it today.

In times of huge amounts of heterogeneous data available, processing and extracting knowledge requires more and more efforts on building complex software architectures. In this context, Apache Spark provides a powerful and efficient approach for large-scale data processing. This talk will briefly introduce a powerful machine learning library (MLlib) along with a general overview of the Spark framework, describing how to launch applications within a cluster. In this way, a demo will show how to simulate a Spark cluster in a local machine using images available on a Docker Hub public repository. In the end, another demo will show how to save time using unit tests for validating jobs before running them in a cluster.

In response to a customer request, this presentation demonstrates the ability to determine network serviceability based on Oracle Spatial data using FME. Various transformers are utilized to determine serving points for a neighborhood, formatted into a report which is made available as a web page as well as emailed. The report data is also displayed on a Google Maps map with various underlying Oracle Spatial layers.
