!! Recall key facts about erectile dysfunction and why it occurs
!! Assess the needs of men with erectile dysfunction including assessing complex
health needs
!! Identify patients for whom sildenafil supply by a pharmacist is indicated by using
appropriate assessment form
!! Gain knowledge of the efficacy, safety and tolerability of medications used to
treat erectile dysfunction, and review the sildenafil options that can be supplied
by a trained New Zealand pharmacist
!! Gain knowledge of the evolving role of the pharmacist in the management of
erectile dysfunction, appropriate supply of sildenafil, and when to refer.

regulatory authorities within New Zealand as part of this training module monitoring and

7. Pharmacist$Declaration
A requirement of the supply of sildenafil without a prescription by
a pharmacist is for pharmacists to check the customer’s pulse
and blood pressure. The pharmacist must:
•! have an appropriate blood pressure monitor available
•! be able to use it competently
•! know how to take a pulse accurately
