This document summarizes two scientific studies. The first study found that modifying DNA through epigenetic modifications can attenuate old traumatic memories in mice by changing gene expression and activity in the hippocampus. The second study discovered that chromosomes take on a cylindrical shape because it has a lower surface energy than irregular shapes, and that interactions between chromatin layers can justify the elasticity of chromosomes.
