This study utilizes GMS MODFLOW software to model the groundwater in the Birjand area of South Khorasan, Iran, where water scarcity is a significant issue due to arid conditions. The model, calibrated with various observed data, aims to assess groundwater status, informing more accurate management and planning for local water resources. Results indicate a concerning decline in groundwater levels over the last three decades, reaching a critical point for water supply sustainability.
