MISSION
• The Chesapeake Climate Action Network is the grassroots, nonprofit
organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland,
Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build and mobilize a powerful
grassroots movement in this unique region that surrounds our nation’s capital
to call for state, national and international policies that will put us on a path
to climate stability.
• We envision a country where clean energy sources, such as solar and wind
power, are prioritized and dirty fossil fuels are phased out; where our world is
on a path to 350 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere, creating a stable, sustainable
climate.
TASKS
• Promote awareness of Environmental Concerns such as:

• Recruit students to attend Power Shift 2013
• Educate the community on Environmental Justice
• Recruit volunteers to help campaign

  • 1. 2013 PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGN: THE CHESAPEAKE CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK By Sydnie L.A. Baker Director of Public Relations
  • 2. MISSION • The Chesapeake Climate Action Network is the grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build and mobilize a powerful grassroots movement in this unique region that surrounds our nation’s capital to call for state, national and international policies that will put us on a path to climate stability. • We envision a country where clean energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are prioritized and dirty fossil fuels are phased out; where our world is on a path to 350 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere, creating a stable, sustainable climate.
  • 3. TASKS • Promote awareness of Environmental Concerns such as:  Sustainability  Climate Change  Fracking  XL Tar Sands Pipeline • Recruit students to attend Power Shift 2013 • Educate the community on Environmental Justice • Recruit volunteers to help campaign
  • 5. STRATEGIES • Events -- Social & Informative • Social Networking -- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vine, Pinterest • Phone banking -- Calls to invite constituents and promote upcoming events • Promotional Gear -- T-Shirts & Wristbands • Campaign Videos • Initiatives • Petition Signing • Student Campus Coordinators at area college campuses ( HU, VCU, VSU, ODU, NSU)
  • 10. EVENT IDEAS • Environmental Justice Panel • Campaign: Go to area college campuses and pass out t-shirts/ promotional gear while getting petitions signed • Day Party: Games, Prizes, Speakers, Food & Fun! • Lobby outside of the DC/MD/VA Legislative Buildings
