I am Bevin and I would like to remind us of some broad perspectives related to missions mobilization.
Missions Mobilizations Perspectives and Principles to empower Missions Mobilizers
First principle is this… The bigger the goal we have in missions the more it becomes clear that we need everyone to play their part, in other words the more we see the need for missions mobilization.
At the IFMLT in the Philippians Jim Haney a lead researcher with the IMB encouraged us to work toward what he called “transformational disciple making movements”. We want Disciple Making Movements that impact and transform whole communities in every area of thought and life. If this is our goal then we need both experts on disciple making and experts on areas like family, economics and education.
To see transformational disciple making movements we must continue plant and mobilize the whole church to bring the whole gospel to the whole world… prioritizing those who have little to no access to the gospel.
We also need to remember that mobilization is more than recruitment. It is great to be able to pick ripe fruit off of the tree. recruitment is picking ripe fruit, people who are ready to pray, give and go. But often there is not much fruit to pick so also work to change the worldviews and beliefs that are behind the lack of missions fruit in some communities.
So pray for wisdom for mobilizers who are also working to help their communities to move away from seeing missions as just one of the programs they run to understanding the missions as the operating system that runs all of their programs.
Another perspective: When does mobilization begin? Let us also remember that the best time for missions DNA to be imparted to a disciple is at the very beginning of their journey not many years later.
We can see the fruit of mobilization from the begging when we look at the missionaries are going out FROM Mongolia! It is clear that missions DNA was imparted from the very beginning of that Disciple Making Movement.
The Mongolia story can help us see that actually mobilization is not just for mobilizers working in the mobilization circle. Understood correctly mobilization can inform every circle of function in YWAM Frontier Missions. For example this year one of the best mobilization initiatives called “Next Steps” was birthed out of the training circle.
Finally we acknowledge that Covid-19 has impacted missions deeply and there are many unanswered questions. Perhaps the western domination of missions has decreased, but the good news is that the Body of Christ has never been more diverse and that many of the best workers to reached the unreached already live near the unreached.
So in light of this we must continue to prioritize Global South Mobilization and Frontier Mobilization.
Here are some amazing Global South Mobilizer that you may know. And because of their work there are so many fruitful workers in the harvest among the unreached.
Also here are some “frontier mobilizers” you may know. They are focused on DMM but also working to help mobilize the Indian Church to grow in embracing their strategic role in reaching the unreached all around them.
So we are not only inviting individuals to pray, give, and go but also to catalyze/start mobilization movements. If we want to see a missions sending movement to the unreached, there must be a mission mobilization movements among the unsent. - Reuben Kachala Leader of a missions mobilization movement in Malawi
So in light of these realities the YWAMFM Mobilization Circle will continue to connect, resource and equip missions leaders/mobilizers, prioritizing missions mobilization in and from the Global South.
You are invited to connect with other missions advocates and share resources via WhatsApp and Telegram.
You are also invited to upgrade your missions mobilization in the School of Missions Advocacy. And you are invited practice mentoring future missionaries in the Next Steps Course.
