Every technology goes through a number of transformations during its lifetime. And this is true for the humble lamppost. In Europe there are some 60-90 million of them lining the streets of our cities. And more than 75% of them are 25 years or older. Now is their time: doing more with this modest city asset to ‘bootstrap’ smart city services presents a real and rapid opportunity. What then needs to be done?

Azavista, the leader in corporate event technology, participated in the EIBTM conference last week, in Barcelona. Cassandra Michael, Sales and Marketing Manager at Azavista, gave a presentation about the future of events as the company envisions it.
This presentation covers some of the main aspects of the current smart city discussions: definitions, market drivers, analyses and trends as well as best practice examples of what the concept of smart city means in practice. It examines the importance of using data and software to improve and optimise infrastructure (including lighting) performance. It also gives an overview of barriers and obstacles to smart city deployment, and offer some resources and links for further reading.
Talk by David Gillingham, GE Lighting
Barcelona Smart City is a world reference for Smart Cities. Urban planning, ecology and information technology are slated to reach into every neighborhood, to improve citizens’ quality of life. Barcelona is the first municipality to develop its own Smart City platform. The Barcelona City Council designed an open source IoT software suite called Sentilo, and use it to monitor noise and air pollution. Initial installation took place in a large, public city square. Subsequent deployments blanket the city, and other cities have been eager to adopt the platform.
In this talk, Alicia Asin covers the challenges, actions and projected outcomes for Smart City measures, citing best practices for the global cities taking a long-term view on technology in the best interest of their citizens. Lighting, Energy, Water, Transportation are crucial to cities; air quality and noise pollution touch the citizens acutely. Open Data initiatives make municipal activities transparent.
The project developed in Business and Technical fields, has the vision to "Make the ownership of EV independent from charging infrastructure".
In the field of E-Mobility, the objective is to solve the problem of availability and location of charging infrastructure in Italy and to cooperate with government and utilities to the fast adoption of electrical vehicles for everyday usability.

In this overview of May 2014, I present the technogical side of the move to a 'screenless' world, and provide cases and videolinks to practicasl cases of wearables like jewelry, fitness trackers,...

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
