15 Factors to Consider When Changing How You Process PayrollSage HRMS
When changing how you process payroll, there are numerous considerations that must be taken into account. You will want to think about the features that are important to your company and decide on a solution that meets your needs within budget. The key to selecting the right payroll solution for your organization is to make certain that all of the vendors you evaluate can meet your needs before you begin to narrow down your choices. As you gather requirements and create your Request for Proposal (RFP), you’ll need to consider the functional capabilities required to produce accurate payroll, the vendor qualities you value most, and finally, how you plan to implement a new solution.
The document discusses labor management systems (LMS) and how they can save time and money for organizations. It describes who needs LMS, such as front office staff, managers, and hourly employees. An LMS is defined as the integration of hardware, software, and user decisions to efficiently allocate human resources. LMS provide features like easy to use scheduling, timekeeping integration, and real-time access to key performance indicators. The document argues LMS can eliminate fraud and save over 6% of payroll costs through controls on overtime and unauthorized work hours.

Top Seven Benefits of an Automated Time and Attendance SystemSage HRMS
Increasing information accuracy and reliability are the two paramount reasons a time and attendance system is installed in any organization. Because an organization’s workforce is often its largest expense, impacting production and profitability, inaccurate timekeeping can lead to costly regulatory compliance missteps, among other pitfalls.
On the other hand, it should be noted that employees also represent an organization’s biggest asset with regard to growth and profitability. Thus, maintaining accurate and reliable time and attendance information makes labor management a whole lot more manageable.
At surface level, the immediate time-saving, as well as bottom-line saving, benefits of time and attendance automation are easy to highlight. However, without accurate and reliable time data captured from employees and passed to other parts of the human resources and payroll system, error-prone breakdowns are likely to occur. These can result in employees’ not being paid properly, noncompliance, decreased employee morale, and turnover.
An appropriate time and attendance system that meets your organization’s needs can help to eliminate and even prevent many, if not most, of the negative aspects of inaccurate and unreliable timekeeping.
The following will outline the top benefits of a time and attendance system and the positive effect they can have on your organization.
The document discusses Valiant's workforce management software. EmpLive is a cloud-based workforce management suite that includes rostering, time and attendance tracking, automated pay rules calculation, and employee self-service features. It integrates with payroll systems and allows managers to efficiently schedule employees, track hours worked, and ensure compliance with employment laws and awards. Customers report savings of up to 10% of annual payroll costs through increased efficiencies in managing rosters and timekeeping. The cloud-based solution provides automatic updates and requires no software installation.
An automated time and attendance system provides several key benefits: it increases accuracy by capturing time data electronically in real-time; it improves productivity by reducing the time spent on payroll processing from hours to minutes; and it provides insights into labor costs and workforce utilization that enable better business decisions. Integrating time, attendance, HR and payroll systems amplifies these benefits through automated data transfer between systems.
Valiant provides workforce management software that handles employee scheduling, time tracking, payroll processing, billing, and reporting for security firms. The software allows automatic scheduling based on employee qualifications, tracks hours worked across locations and shifts to calculate accurate payroll and billing, and provides over 300 standardized reports. Customers praise Valiant for increasing efficiency of payroll processes, gaining confidence in business operations, and improving management of overtime hours and staff assignments.
The document discusses the objectives and scope of developing a computerized payroll system for Barangay Hall, Dita. The main objective is to design a system that minimizes manual tasks, monitors employee loans and deductions, and generates accurate payroll reports. Specifically, the system aims to reduce checking of time records, create reports, and track employee loans and deductions. The system will automatically calculate payroll amounts like regular wages, overtime pay, deductions, and net pay. It will also generate payroll reports for tax compliance. The scope covers payroll preparation for Barangay Hall employees and keeping their records while excluding any other groups.
The duties of payroll management can seem endless and handling payroll is a complex process that requires timely and accurate payment of employees along with deducting appropriate taxes and providing paid time off. Outsourcing payroll to a provider can help businesses achieve better resource management and save time by automating payroll processing tasks. Payroll service providers typically offer features like automatic payroll processing, ensuring payroll data entry accuracy, proper wage garnishment and tax withholding, keeping up with regulations, and providing detailed job cost analysis reports. Companies should carefully consider a provider's credentials, pricing structure, and reviews when deciding on outsourcing their payroll needs.
It is not easy for a company to handle the complexities of payroll, including the timely and accurate payment of all employees, deduction of appropriate taxes, and provision of paid time off.
This document summarizes payroll processing services offered by Company.payroll. It discusses how the company's payroll services are secure, paperless, integrated and automated compared to traditional payroll processing methods. The services include payroll processing, tax filing and payments, time and attendance tracking, and HR tools. Customers can access these services through a cloud-based online portal from any device.
When making the switch to a new payroll solution, it’s important to carefully weigh your company’s needs and budget when selecting a vendor. Payroll solutions typically fall into one of two types:
Commercial software—Payroll software that runs on your PC or server and allows you to run your own payroll and manage all your payroll processes in-house, including printing checks, reporting, forms, and managing direct deposits and payroll taxes. Commercial payroll software typically involves a one-time software purchase and annual support contract for software enhancements, tax table updates, and technical advice.
Outsourced service—A service bureau processes your payroll, prints checks, handles tax filing, and prints W-2s and other year-end forms. The bureau maintains all payroll data and charges initial and ongoing “per employee” or “per check” processing fees for the service, with additional fees for optional services and reports.
Of these, commercial software typically offers more flexibility and return on investment for midsized companies. Not only is commercial software more cost-effective, it allows you to protect wage and salary information and maintain control over payroll processing to easily handle last-minute changes. With the many commercial payroll software options available, selecting a solution and a vendor can seem like a difficult task. That’s why it’s important to arm yourself with good information, and know the right questions to ask.

Essentials of Automations: Exploring Attributes & Automation ParametersSafe Software
Building automations in FME Flow can save time, money, and help businesses scale by eliminating data silos and providing data to stakeholders in real-time. One essential component to orchestrating complex automations is the use of attributes & automation parameters (both formerly known as “keys”). In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever build an Automation without using these components, but what exactly are they?
Attributes & automation parameters enable the automation author to pass data values from one automation component to the next. During this webinar, our FME Flow Specialists will cover leveraging the three types of these output attributes & parameters in FME Flow: Event, Custom, and Automation. As a bonus, they’ll also be making use of the Split-Merge Block functionality.
You’ll leave this webinar with a better understanding of how to maximize the potential of automations by making use of attributes & automation parameters, with the ultimate goal of setting your enterprise integration workflows up on autopilot.

From Natural Language to Structured Solr Queries using LLMsSease
This talk draws on experimentation to enable AI applications with Solr. One important use case is to use AI for better accessibility and discoverability of the data: while User eXperience techniques, lexical search improvements, and data harmonization can take organizations to a good level of accessibility, a structural (or “cognitive” gap) remains between the data user needs and the data producer constraints.
That is where AI – and most importantly, Natural Language Processing and Large Language Model techniques – could make a difference. This natural language, conversational engine could facilitate access and usage of the data leveraging the semantics of any data source.
The objective of the presentation is to propose a technical approach and a way forward to achieve this goal.
The key concept is to enable users to express their search queries in natural language, which the LLM then enriches, interprets, and translates into structured queries based on the Solr index’s metadata.
This approach leverages the LLM’s ability to understand the nuances of natural language and the structure of documents within Apache Solr.
The LLM acts as an intermediary agent, offering a transparent experience to users automatically and potentially uncovering relevant documents that conventional search methods might overlook. The presentation will include the results of this experimental work, lessons learned, best practices, and the scope of future work that should improve the approach and make it production-ready.

Direct losses from downtime in 1 minute = $5-$10 thousand dollars. Reputation is priceless.
As part of the talk, we will consider the architectural strategies necessary for the development of highly loaded fintech solutions. We will focus on using queues and streaming to efficiently work and manage large amounts of data in real-time and to minimize latency.
We will focus special attention on the architectural patterns used in the design of the fintech system, microservices and event-driven architecture, which ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency of the entire system.

The above illustrates the resources required to manage the costly, error prone
manual time keeping process with manual calculations & manual data entry
for payroll processing and billing.
6. The American Payroll Association conducted
a study and identified “…three expensive
problems” associated with manual processes:
1. “The time to manually compute hours.”
Totaling time and calculating overtime &
accruals are tedious low value tasks
requiring the time of highly paid accountants
& administrative staff.
2. “The errors made in manually computing
time. Experts feel the error rate is
probably 1%.” Do your own calculation –
multiply your labor costs (payroll) * 1%.
What could you save?
3. “Lost Time” or Time Theft. “The average
workers steals 4 hours and 18 minutes
per week by coming in late, goofing off,
taking long lunches and breaks…”
8. MTC – Mobile Timeclocks
Hardware & software used to collect time, jobs, phases, codes, etc
e.g. below - biometric clocks (1-3) and battery powered key fob clock (4).

18. Case Study
Industry: Landscaping
Total Employees: 60
Mobile Employees: 50
Situation:
Heritage Master Village Association, Inc. is a master planned community on
50,000 acres with homes, rivers, trails, a golf course, tennis courts, pools & clubhouse.
Employees responsible for landscaping and maintenance must check
in at the clubhouse to clock in, then walk to their assigned worksite to
do mowing, seeding, trimming, and other landscaping duties. This
resulted In elevated labor costs and decreased productivity.
Solution:
Battery powered, weather –proof timeclocks, employee issued key fobs:
50 new Sprint phones and 7 Super devices for bluetooth collection
Benefits:
“Costs were reduced, and the accuracy and integrity of the data was significantly
improved. Payroll administration time was reduced, along with Workers Comp claims.”
- Matt Mozdziak, Purchasing/IT Administrator
20. Case Study
Industry: Cleaning & Custodial
Total Employees: 320
Mobile Employees: 300
Situation:
Jancoa employees clean client locations throughout Cincinnati; they service all
business types from banks to sporting arenas. With 300 employees going out to 70
different, non company owned sites they needed an easy, cost effective and wireless
way to collect time for multi-lingual and potentially illiterate employees.
Solution: Wireless timeclocks were mounted in client locations allowing employees
to clock in upon arrival and departure using a numeric key pad
and green/red buttons. 70 ZTE Optik tablets with About Time
data collection software and mounting kits.
Benefits:
“This is exactly what we need. I can see every employee
in the organization being able to use this, and it’s much less
expensive than the connection fees we are paying for today
for wireline clocks which only work in some of our locations.”
21. Case Study
Industry: Contractors
Total Employees: 280
Mobile Employees: 255
Situation:
Dickens Quality Demolition is a specialty contractor in Phoenix, Arizona. With 30
foremen managing 1-2 jobs and up to 10 man crews, they needed a more accurate
and efficient way of collection time and allowing managers to approve time and track
budgets from the field.
Solution: Each Supervisor was issued a GPS enabled netbook with About Time
mobile timeclock software and a biometric fingerprint reader. Each employee clocks in
using the supervisor’s device upon arrival at the job site recording his exact time and
eliminating supervisors’ end of week estimations & paper timecard delivery & data entry
Benefits:
“These devices were exactly what we need and priced right at less
than $100 per unit. We are exited to go live!”
22. Case Study
Industry: Construction
Total Employees: 88
Mobile Employees: 50
Situation:
R&J Construction’s time-intensive & inexact payroll processes were 100% reliant on
mobile workers to record time (and overtime) .
Solution:
Sprint phones as timeclocks w/ Xora GPS; automation into ADP & MasterBuilder
Benefits:
“We now know where our workers are and what they are doing at all times, enabling
us to pay and invoice more accurately, route and dispatch more efficiently, and to more
successfully control costs. Simply put, Xora & ADP give us a tremendous competitive
advantage. Job-costing has never been more accurate and allows for more precise job
estimates. “ - Paula Wiens, Controller
- Reduced vehicle mileage reimbursement costs savings of approx. $6,000 per month.
- Positive financial impact of $180,000 YOY due to reduced OT & admin cost savings.
37. Integration
Payroll
Mobile Timeclocks
Time & Labor Management
MasterBuilder
38. Features & Benefits of Integration
Mobile Timeclocks collect raw punch detail (8:08AM clock in punch)
Time & Labor Management system massages data (rounding rules, OT, accruals) and prepares
it for payroll and accounting
Automation increases speed & accuracy of payroll preparation
Automation and integration reduces labor costs by collecting real time information, eliminating
self rounding, eliminating manual calculations and manual entries which are error prone
The solution ensures compliance & fairness by universally applying company policies to all
employees
