The document discusses a study that examined how the use of "vee-maps" can help students make connections between scientific concepts and processes in their writing. Three groups of students used vee-maps in different ways when completing biology labs over a semester. Results showed that the group using vee-maps for all three labs made the most improvement in linking concepts and processes in their writing. The study suggests vee-maps are an effective scaffold to help students develop skills in explaining science.

Arkansas Rule 82 & Florida Senate Bill 2082 Analysisranger78
This document summarizes Arkansas Rule 82 and the Florida Senate Bill 2082 regarding suitability requirements for annuity transactions. Arkansas Rule 82 requires 4 hours of annual training for producers on suitability and annuity products. It outlines duties around determining reasonable recommendations and providing disclosures. Florida SB 2082 strengthens standards for recommendations to seniors and requires suitability analyses, continuing education, and information on fees and taxes be provided to consumers. Both are based on the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation but provide more specific requirements and enforcement remedies.
Far too many New Jersey residents experienced the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. This Guide, prepared by Patrick Parker Realty, is intended as a reference to those affected by the Superstorm. The victims of Sandy face a wide variety of financial, housing and legal issues, and here we attempt to survey those issues that arise most often. Although this Guide cannot explore all issues completely or touch on every point that may arise, we have made considerable efforts to determine what issues are most relevant to the victims of the Hurricane and its aftermath. Please note that this information is current as of January 1, 2013 but by the time you read this material, the federal, state and county governments may have adopted additional measures to assist victims of Sandy.
We realize this Guide cannot answer all of the questions you undoubtedly have in the wake of the Superstorm. Rather, it is intended to identify the issues that many victims will need to consider, and to point you in the right direction. You may need to contact federal, state, city or county officials, local aid organizations, or even seek legal representation in order to obtain more specific information about your individual concerns.
This document discusses a study on the feasibility of mobile banking among smallholder cocoa farmers in Ghana. It finds that mobile banking could help address challenges in the cocoa sector like low loan recovery rates and access to agricultural financing. The study recommends a system where a mobile banking platform connects farmers, agricultural organizations, input suppliers, mobile network operators, and banks to enable financial and input credit services via mobile phones. Adopting mobile banking could help farmers access loans, make payments, and sell their cocoa more efficiently. However, the system would require partnerships between all parties and further education for farmers on using mobile banking.

Key considerations for effective financing models include simplicity, sources of low-cost capital, loan terms that minimize monthly payments, managing credit and default risks, and partnering with utilities for on-bill collection where feasible. The most prominent examples highlighted are Pennsylvania's Keystone HELP program and Manitoba Hydro's on-bill loan program.

Minnesota “Trade-in & Save” Appliance Program
where residents earn a rebate for replacing their energy hog
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 appropriated $5,009,000 to the state of Minnesota to
Introduction establish an energy efficient appliance rebate program. The goals of this program are to stimulate the economy
and save energy by encouraging residents to replace old appliances with new ENERGY STAR models. The
Minnesota Office of Energy Security (OES) has allocated funds across four eligible ENERGY STAR appliance
categories: refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, and dishwashers. OES encourages residents to start
planning their purchase and use this rebate to “trade up” to the most energy and water efficient appliance that
fits their budget.
The Minnesota “Trade-in & Save” Appliance Program is a first come first serve rebate program and funds are
expected to be exhausted quickly. While this program offers a limited number of rebates, OES hopes residents
will find additional rebates as offered by retailers and manufacturers. Your local electric and gas utilities are also
a great source for energy saving tips and rebate opportunities.
We invite Minnesota residents to participate in this program and thank you for doing your share to protect our
natural resources and boost Minnesota’s economy. To apply for the rebate, visit the program’s website at
