In March of 2019 ACM has signed a Memorandum
of Understanding with Kempinski Khan Place Hotel
in Ulaanbaatar and established a working partnership
on organizing art exhibitions in the hotelâs lobby and
restaurant throughout of the year. The first exhibition
âLight 5â, by artist Ts.Yagaantsetseg, is shown from
21th March 2019 to 23th May of 2019. Exhibition
presents bright and colorful art works made in oil on
canvas and invites audience to be close to nature.
One of the main priorities of the
Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) is to
build public awareness on importance
of arts and culture in human, social and
economic development and contribute
to education of young people through
the arts.
To reach its priority, ACM has launÂ
ched âWe Can-We Are Talentedâ media
arts program to empower life skills of
youth with intellectual disability through
inclusive film making on 2nd of April,
2019 at the Broadcasting Media Arts
School of Mongolian State University of
Arts & Culture.
Since 2018, ACM has started to
partner with Australian Bus Stop Films
and learned inclusive film making curriÂ
culum to teach and work people with
intellectual disabilities. The Bus Stop
Films has an extensive experience of
colÂlaborating with people with disabiÂ
lities since its establishment of 2008.
The organization has been educating
and involving many young people with
intellectual disabilities to its own âIncluÂ
sive Filmmakingâ programs and won
over 50 international awards from interÂ
national film festivals with its inclusive
films. As continuity of the partnership,
ACM is delighted to partner with Bus
Stop Films on implementation of âWe
Can-We Are Talentedâ an accessible film
studies program.
For this edition, 26 young people
with intellectual disability and with
down syndrome and media art school
stuÂdents together will take a chance to
participate in a year-long special film-
making training by 4 phases. The first
phase of training will teach about âMise-
en-sceneâ about four elements: space,
lighting, performance, costume and
make up. This curriculum meaningfully
addresses the need to provide access
to equal opportunity in learning and an
entry pathway into the film industry.
For making the program possible,
ACM has partnered with Down SyndÂ
rome Association of Mongolia, AssoÂ
ciaÂtion of Parents with Differently abled
Children, Broadcasting Media Arts
School of Mongolian State University
of Arts Culture and supported by the
FounÂdation for Development of Art and
Culture of the Ministry of Education,
Culture, Science and Sports and TechenoÂ
mics Mongolia.
The program will not only contribute
in promotion of United Nations conveÂ
ntion of the rights of persons with a disaÂ
bility (CRPD) Article 24; that all children
have the right to a quality and inclusive
education; inclusive education being
defined by General Comment Number
24.4 of the CPRD, but also helps to
change public perception about disabÂ
led community. Therefore, it is imporÂtant
to give an opportunity for people with
disabilities to participate in social actiÂ
vities, and to be acknowledged in society.

Arts Council of Mongolian (ACM) Arts
program focuses on nurturing artistic
excellence among arts and culture organiÂ
zations and artists by building their capacities,
enhancing their international collaboration
and promoting Mongolian arts and culture
abroad and world talents in Mongolia.
ACM collaborated with World Wood
Day Foundation (WWDF) by recommending
Mongolian talented artist Ochirbat Namsrai
to represent Mongolian woodcarving art at the
2019 World Wood Day event. This is an annual
celebration on March 21st to raise public
awareness of the importance of wood and how
wood plays as a key role in a sustainable future.
The 2019 World Wood Day (http://
worldwoodday.org/2019/) event was a week-
long event on 18th-26th March in Graz,
Austria including a symposium, woodcraft
programs (woodcarving, woodturning), folk
art workshops, wooden music performances,
childrenâs events, a tree planting, a tour and an
international wood art exhibition.
The 2019 theme CHANGE aimed to
heighten the need for awareness to make
changes for an eco-friendly and sustainable
future. It featured an intersection of tradition and
innovationâpreserving the past and pioneering
for the future â and call to take action and face
the challenges in this ever-changing world.
For this year, Ochirbat Namsrai, member
of Mongolian Artist Union was selected by
the foundation and successfully participated
in the woodcarving workshop that was jointly
performed by 111 artists from 90 different
countries.
For the celebration of World Wood Day,
artists from Japan, Austria, Saudi Arabia,
Indonesia, Egypt, Czech Republic, China,
Yemen were invited to represent their countries
wooden products. In addition, music bands
and musicians from Peru, Slovakia, Ireland,
Nepal, Mexico, Switzerland, Kazakhstan,
Austria, Cuba, China performed their national
music for the event. The important part of the
World Wood Day festival is woodcraft program
(woodcarving and woodturning). For the
festival each participating artist asked to bring
30x30 sized relief carving artwork under theme
of âChangeâ with them when they come to the
event. Then the beginning of the festival, the
artists used the wood that organizers chose for
them to start creating a new wooden artwork
during the event. All the created wooden
artworks were presented for public on the
closing ceremony. World Wood Day is an
annual international festival and World Wood
Day 2020 will be held in Japan next year.
