Editor's Notes
At least 70 people at the very beginning, likely more like 100 once everybody was there. We distributed starburst candy (what else!) and about 400 Maunakea coins. The banner bearers were Auntie Mimi and Geoff Bower from EAO, with their pōwehi T-shirts. Many were waving fun signs about outreach activities and astronomy. T-shirts are getting more and more sophisticated too!
Girl scouts and their families had a lot of fun learning about the stars and planets
in our summer sky at Kohanaiki beach park last night! Portable telescopes from
Gemini Observatory, Keck Observatory, Subaru Telescope, and the West Hawai’i
Astronomy Club showed stellar views of Jupiter, Saturn, and more . One scout's
favorite deep space object was the Ptolemy open cluster in the constellation
Scorpius
