This may be seen as a positive or negative aspect, but most of my linkedIn
correspondence has been through headhunters and recruiters that I am not connected to
offering me jobs that really have little to do with my profile or stated goals. That somewhat
puts a hole in the whole "connections" model (though if you have enough connections, you may
have second order peripheral members who have access to you in that manner). On the positive
side, it is a very good replacement for a traditional resume, and the ability to post
presentations, video links, and publications allows those who will actually take the time to
review and learn about who you are and what you do a real window in what you can genuinely
