On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 with 150 passengers and 5 crew, struck a flock of Canada geese shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport, resulting in dual engine failure. Captain Chesley Sullenberger and his crew executed a successful ditching in the Hudson River, leading to the safe evacuation of all onboard. This incident has been recognized as 'the most successful ditching in aviation history' and awarded the crew the 'master's medal' for outstanding aviation achievements.
