Milkfish farming requires intensive study and proper budgeting to account for equipment, maintenance, and feeds needed to keep the fish healthy and make a profit. Caring for milkfish involves creating a suitable environment, maintaining water quality, and providing appropriate natural or supplementary feeds like plankton, worms, and rice bran. Milkfish reach sexual maturity at 1.5kg after 8-10 years and can produce 3-4 million eggs per breeding cycle, growing quickly in ponds especially in the first year if given quality feed.
