My slides from the workshop I tutored at the MindTrek 2009 conference in Finland. The workshop showcases methods and findings that will be published in my forthcoming book on social games.
The talk tries to highlight the reasons designer and developers think the way they think and work the way they work with each other. It also tries to suggest remedial measures and cultural probes that can aid the process of easing the collaboration between the said tribes.

A team response tot he task of "Change the Rules of The Game" in which we changed a rule, refined it, then changed a game mechanic. After several rounds of iterative testing, we concluded with adding a randomly assigned value and mechanic change to the game.

Digital Art Project Proposal
For this project you will break up into groups of two or three. Drawing from your new knowledge of
Digital Art from Chapters 1-2, you will propose a concept for a digital art piece and then present it as a
group to the class. Approach this project as if you are artists and designers seeking a grant to create your
piece.
Consider these questions in your proposal:
What is your goal with this piece? What are you criticizing, examining, parodying, etc.?
How does your work of art fit into some of the themes of Postmodernism discussed earlier this
semester?
What form does your art piece take? Refer to your text for the different types of work you could
create (interactive installation, animation/video, printed renderings, etc.)
How does it incorporate existing or theoretical technology?
What resources would you need to have in order to create this piece? Would you need a
programmer? A video artist? A 3D modeler? Does it need to exist in a physical space or is it
completely virtual? If it is virtual, how will people access it?
What would the budget look like for this project? Give a rough estimate of what materials and
labor would be required.
What problems do you anticipate you might run into? How would you go about solving these
issues?
Since you are graphics and game majors, use your creative and technical skills to show us what the piece
would look like. For your presentation, you can create a mock-up in Photoshop or a similar program of
the final piece’s appearance and how people might interact with it. You can also reference similar
artworks or artists in your presentation to show where you draw inspiration. If you do this be sure to
include names, titles, and images.
On this date, you will turn in your written proposal (2-3 pages single spaced, typed, 12 pt font, and
standard margins) outlining your project. You will present your idea in your group using PowerPoint to
present the imagery of your proposed project.

Serendipity by Design - IxD S. America 13Dave Malouf
I opened up the talks section of this great conference in Recife, BR in 2013.
The talk was talking about how design can use the powerful tools of art and it's close association to non-linear creativity and associative thinking by building the space and culture of the studio environment.
UI/UX Designer in the year 2020 | Developers Day Nov.19Lena Lekkou
What it's like to be a designer in the current year, what difficulties we all face and what soft skills everyone should invest in the following years so that they become future-proof in their discipline.

Codemotion Roma 2015 - In the talk we present the learning path that a web site and web application developer should take to become a game developer. Some of the notions introduced will be game design, storytelling, game loops, game mechanics, game feel, physics, lightning, audio: all themes that are secondary or absent in traditional web application development but that are necessary in game development, even within the limited means of HTML5 games. Also the different approaches to browser games will be discussed, e.g. HTML5 CSS3, SVG, Canvas. A final note will be about development methodologies.

As I have developed my thesis, I have run into the idea of fantasy. What does it mean to have the epic and the low?
How do I combine the drama of Cinderella's gown with a gentle look at materials and simple combinations? How do I amplify fantasy for reality?

I didn't include “Designer” There are many reasons that a non-designer would want to be in a design program: I did not include “Designer” Technical Expertise in peers and faculty Design Process is extremely well suited for large scale installations And interactivity. Available learning opportunities that appear in design programs that Do not materialize in fine arts programs.
4. Who/ What work am I interested in? Every Year my influences grow and change. This year is heavily skewed towards Contemporary Canadian artists from my last year in Montreal. L-R: Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Nelson Henricks, Allyson Mitchell

20. Final/ Mini Thesis Possible Future Questions: Can Game Design Principles be expanded to apply to Large scale art installations? How to apply design theory when there isn't a specific audience? Interactive Narrative is like a proto-game. What is the interactive Art object when you strip it of narrative?
