3. Recognition &
Certification
I obtained a BASc degree in
Occupational Health & Safety and it
was definitely an asset. Without a
doubt, the rich body of knowledge
and practical experiences have
helped me be ready for the field
work: It made me one step closer to
building a safe working environment
for all.
I learned a lot of indispensible skills
on how to be a life saver! I think
having a certificate in first aid and
CPR complements very well with my
background in environmental, health
& safety. These skills could come in
handy one day.
I earned my first bachelor’s degree
in the Sciences. While I was majoring
in Integrative Bio and Psych, I was
also taking courses in Geography,
English, Sociology, Chemistry, etc. I
learned a lot about the world and
had many laughs and good times
along the way. Plus, my
communication skills became
stronger at the end of this journey.
4. Past Experiences
2014
2015
2016
Mount Sinai Hospital – I was lucky enough to land a volunteer
job at a place where I got to nurture some skills and contribute
my knowledge. Mount Sinai was truly an award-winning
workplace, setting excellent examples for me on how to achieve
a healthy and safe environment for everyone.
OCAD University – Here, I gained intense exposure to the
business of health and safety. I had the opportunity to
participate in almost all aspects of health and safety by the end
and gotten comfortable doing it! I even got to hone some of my
existing skills, such as program development and
communication. I was able to contribute immensely wherever
possible during my time there. I earned a reputation as the one
who gets things done. What an experience!
Ryerson University – I returned to one of my alma maters. This
time I came back to work as an environmental health & safety
professional. During my stay, I got to use my favourite skill:
leadership. I believed a lot of things I have done has made a
positive impact, which I know I can repeat in the future. The face-
to-face contact with clients and their interest in safety made my
days satisfying because, together, we share the same ultimate
goal of safety.
