TERESA BECKER San Juan Regional Medical Center 2011-2013
Volunteer
I worked in volunteer services for a little undertwo years. Had the opportunity to work with patient discharges, answered phones,
transferring calls, organized paperwork, used computer for patient information to look up. Also experienced patient confidentiality and
all this entailed by not being able to discuss such issues with coworkers or family members. Interacted with patients by delivering
flowers, cleaned wheelchairs/tables/chairs/appliances. On the job training at the information desk included wheelchair safety, also had
to maintain yearly requirement of “retraining”. This was an exam to prove competence in working with patients and locations in the
hospital. During this job I dealt with complaints from the consumer directly and learned how to effectively make the patient and
family members most comfortable. Also dealt with a variety of cultures and would escort patients/family members/friends to
wherever they needed to go in the hospital. Dealt a little with time cards/clocking in and out.
