This document contains summaries of Michael Laskowski's design projects and experience: 1. Michael collaborated with SCAD on a project to redesign packaging for Snap-On Tools, conducting research and creating prototypes. 2. He designed a concept car for Volkswagen that incorporated interactive entertainment features for passengers. 3. Michael's senior project involved designing a steering wheel that uses haptics to notify deaf drivers of approaching emergency vehicles.

2. Snap-On Tools
Working collaboratively with SCAD and Snap-On Tools we as a class of 10 re-designed, improved and produced a
packaging solution.
Volkswagen Design Competition
The objective for the contest was to design a futureVolkswagen that is far out from the present and gamafie it.
Steering Wheel
For most the driving experience behind the wheel has not changed, more and more technology is being utilized and for my senior piece I
wanted to solve a problem involving hard of hearing people and driving.
Hello, my name is Michael Laskowski and I am an
Industrial Designer with an appreciation to detail. When
it comes to design, for me making that connection with
the user and their product is very gratifying. With a
future oriented mindset my eyes are always looking
forward to what new and exciting innovations are to

dealerships.We also interviewed other careers outside of
the Snap-On user to see the ways they used organization
in their life and in their profession.

When it needs it, twice a

bench as much as possible due
to my padded floor in front of
my box.

All the time, I need to be neat
so I don’t lose things.

Once a month

Yes the foam inserts

5. Sketches The initial sketches were crucial working with the group to design and
work out how our designs were going to work and how the set them
selves apart from the current market for tools and tool storage.

6. ProcessProcess Once the model was made, we had
to check the tolerances so they were
correct. A long process of sanding,
priming and making sure the model
was absolutely perfect before paint
was applied.
After being printed by the 3D printer there was a lengthy
process in order to present the models in pristine condi-
tion. Sitting in a bath to let all the support material fall off
was first.Then we began to sand, and take away high spots
and low spots with filler. Primer was applied next, then
carefully painted.

Designed in Solid-works and 3D printed for client
The latch is fully functional with slots that fit the tools
with a perfect tolerance. Each one of the tools were mea-
sured with dial calipers in order to fit.

9. Adjustable passenger and driver side arm rests,
allowing for storage underneath as well.
Disk inspired air vents that are hidden and
seamless, allowing for a very minimalistic,
modern dash and center console.
Touch screen interface for minimal use
by the driver but focused for passenger
help when needed.
Details & Features
Working collaboratively with a game designer we
wanted to turn the boring commute to many peoples lives
and made it a better experience for both the driver and
passengers.

The sport menu allows for the driver
enthusiast to drive his or her vehicle in
a whole new driving experience. In this
mode the vehicle can keep track of your
driving style while giving you feed back
on how to improve a better lap time
whether is, shifting, accelerating, corner,
etc.
The game menu allows for the user to have
options in the sort of game they would like to
play.Whether its a triva game where the person
playing or players playing is put in the hot heat
seat.Another option is a fun free playing form
game using any of the glass surfaces in the vehicle
as a virtual
Canvas.
The entertainment menu
allows the user to do a numerous
amount of fun and interactive
activities.A few of which involve
not only the passengers in the
front and rear, but can also involve
the driver in a safe way. One of the
concepts involves transfer of data.
Taking the data on the windows of
the passengers and allowing it to
be sent through the glass to the
passenger or driver. Each one of
the glass surfaces gives everyone
a chance to use it however they
please.

A connection between you and the drivers around you today is almost
non-existent. This is especially true when it comes to emergency vehicles
approaching you at high speeds and not knowing which direction they are
approaching and where they are heading.

When an emergency vehicle is approaching traffic the drivers steering-wheel
will vibrate using haptic sensors on all 4 corners of the wheel. This will notify the
driver and tell the driver which side of the road is the safest to move over too
and will be able to expect the side the emergency vehicle will be traveling on.

Many have fallen into the trap of not realizing that their indicators are still
on while driving and this can be dangerous for the surrounding vehicles.
Not knowing where a car is going can lead to serious consquences.
