While Medea possesses some characteristics of a tragic hero such as experiencing suffering, she does not fully fit the mold of a traditional tragic hero. Unlike typical tragic heroes who are often victims of forces outside their control, Medea seeks her own revenge and uses powers that she already has, suggesting she is not simply a pawn of fate. She does not seem to be greatly influenced by outside forces and willingly succumbs to them if they do affect her. Therefore, while Medea experiences suffering like a tragic hero, she lacks other key aspects of being a victim or pawn of forces beyond her control.

Welcome! You could not miss it here in Manhattan the other day, the big, bold headline across the front page
of the tabloid, New York Post, screaming one of those sick, slick lies that are a trademark of Rupert Murdoch's
right wing media empire. There was Uncle Sam, brandishing a revolver and wearing a burglar's mask. "Uncle

Say what? That my friends, is pure whitewash and Murdoch's minions know it. That $13 billion is the

homeowners and investors, those shady practices that five years ago have triggered the financial meltdown

this is not the only scandal JPMorgan Chase is juggling. A six billion dollar settlement with institutional

so many fronts, it is hard to keep them sorted out. Everything from the deceptive sales and its credit card

Bank of America was found guilty just this week of civil fraud and eight other banks are being investigated by

Ethics Case Study
ACCT 411
PART I: FACTS OF THE CASE
From January 2009 until approximately September 2014, Robert Bandfield, a 72-year old U.S. citizen and resident of Belize, and Gregg R. Mulholland, a 47-year old dual U.S. and Canadian citizen, took part in three interrelated schemes. The first scheme was to persuade U.S. investors to purchase stock in a variety of thinly-traded (cannot be sold or exchanged for cash without a substantial change in price)
U.S. public companies through phony support of the stock, covering up their ownership interests in the companies, and deceitful handling of artificial price movements and trading volume in the stocks of those companies. The second scheme involved evading the payment of capital gains taxes and the IRS’s reporting requirements under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The third scheme was to launder the phony proceeds from the stock controlling schemes to and from the United States utilizing debit cards and attorney escrow accounts. Mulholland controlled a group of individuals (the Mulholland Group) between 2010 and 2014. Through the above-mentioned schemes, Bandfield assisted his unethical clients, which included Mulholland and more than 100 others, to launder more than $250 million in fraudulent income. In order to complete those schemes, shell companies were created in Belize and the West Indies. Bandfields’ clients were able to evade reporting requirements to the IRS, because the income was concealed with those shell companies. The sole purpose was to cover up the ownership interest in the stock of those U.S. public companies.
PART II: APPLYING THE FRAUD TRIANGLE
The Fraud triangle is a framework designed to explain the reasoning behind a worker’s decision to commit workplace fraud. The three stages, categorized by the effect on the individual, can be summarized as pressure, opportunity and rationalization. The concept was introduced in the 1950s by American sociologist, Donald R. Cressey. In the case of Bandfield and Mulholland, the most obvious pressure was making more money, even if the means of making additional money was fraudulent and unethical. There is no evidence to support this assumption, but once the scheme was started and it involved over 100 co-conspirators, it could have been hard to put an end to the scheme if all parties involved did not agree to stop it. Bandfield’s unethical clients were benefitting from the scheme. This assumption could have possibly been a pressure to keep the scheme in motion. As far as opportunity is concerned, both Bandfield and Mulholland, as well as the other unethical clients, seized the opportunity to commit fraud. They all needed each other in order to make the elaborate scheme work. In fact, the scheme lasted over 5 years before it was uncovered. When it comes to rationale, there had to be something that helped them sleep at night. I believe it was that rationale that made the sc.

Abstract
Ponzi schemes date back in 1920’s when Charles Ponzi got involved in a disreputable money generating scheme. Initially the scheme had been tried without success but Charles managed to be the first person to embezzle millions from rather ignorant and innocent credulous people. This is the main reason the scheme bears Ponzi’s name. Later in 2008, one of the Ponzi’s conspirators was brought to the light. Madoff had conned investors of their money for close to thirty years. Unfortunately, the conned investors were all classy and literate. This paper is aimed at providing brief history of the Ponzi schemes and an illustration of how Ponzi schemes work. The second aim of the paper is to give examples of historically popular Ponzi schemers. In addition the paper provides some common characteristics of Ponzi schemes to be able to facilitate easy identification of illegal Ponzi schemes. The paper ends by providing hints on how to avoid unlawful and notorious Ponzi schemes. Comment by Lamar, Angelo: Keep up the good work here.
Introduction Comment by Lamar, Angelo: The title to your paper should go above this heading.
Ponzi schemes are typical fraudulent investments in which the owner promises the investors abnormally high financial returns from their investment. The scheme operator does not invest the investors’ money; instead, the operator uses the funds from new investors to pay the already existing investors their dividends.
The schemes operate smoothly until they lack adequate subsequent investors to sustain payment of dividends to existing investors. This is according to the federal bureau of investigation’s definition of Ponzi schemes. A Ponzi scheme may also seize to operate when the notorious, illegal and fraudulent business is discovered by the government or any other legal authority. Comment by Lamar, Angelo: If so, where is the citation? If information does not come from you then give credit to where it came from.

Federal Authorities Urge Vigilance Amid Bird Flu Outbreak | The Lifesciences ...The Lifesciences Magazine
Federal authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant but calm in response to the ongoing bird flu outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu.
2. Over the last decade, fraud scandals, have increased the attention of the media and police.
In simple words, fraud is defined as the intentional substitution, addition, tampering, or
misrepresentation for economic gains. People like Michael Mendelsohn a financier living
in Los Angeles former executive for the Entertainment division of Bank Paribas is a big
example of fraud on the daily basis. He commits to finance film producers for projects while
he does not have the funds but need to seek approval from a third party hedge fund that
may or may not finally agree to make the deal negotiated and signed. Mendelsohn does not
have the funds when he commits, execute term sheets and falsely represents to producers
that the deal is done and valid. It is fraud.
Meaning of Fraud
3. When the hedge fund that he borrows funds from does not want to proceed
Mendelsohn simply drops the project, find an excuse, stop communicating leaving
producers with agreement in hands powerless and in trouble. Sometime he
renegotiates the deal completely with producers knowing they have little time left in
front of them to fulfilled their commitment to actors and third parties involved in
production. He also use his funding sources to impose a producer credit for himself
while he does not perform producer activities. This is a fake film producer who fools
people in order to make money and ego. He had fooled many peoples in his life for
money and will continue until he is stopped by the authorities. That is why many who
heard his name were abused by him.
How Michael Mendelsohn Fooled People
4. On a recent production after depraving producers of hundreds of thousands of
dollars from their very tied budget he filed a false insurance claim and prosecuted
an American actor Al Pacino.
This started with the legend banning Mendelsohn from the set of the production
when he was present because promisees and commitments were not delivered.
Mendelsohn retaliated by going legally after Pacino and also by filling a false
insurance claim to the production carrier for the reason that Mr Pacino, 79 years
old, was just an hour late per day out of 12 hours day schedule for the shoot of
the picture.
False Claim on Al Pacino
5. The reason behind that was Mendelsohn paid 4 million dollars to secure the
services of the actor and Mendelsohn felt much later after the facts it was too
much. Wanted to renegotiate the deal with Pacino’s representatives which was
impossible so used the false insurance claim to get a fraudulent
compensation. Micheal Mendelson asked the director and others to testify
against Al Pacino for the insurance lawsuit. But they refused.
This film was awarded the worst ranking on Rotten tomatoes ever. Zero, lost a lot
of money and we wonder why the hedge fund did not cut its ties to this con man.
Worst Ranking on Rotten Tomatoes
6. Mendelsohn is also a pervert when it comes to disrespecting women. During the
production of the film I am Wrath, an actor-writer has an aggressive sex event with an
actress which was covered by Michael Mendelsohn. The fake producer tolerated this
actor-writer actions until the actress called out the union and police. Then to avoid a
scandal and production to stop further Mendelsohn asked for the writer actor to leave
the production. ….after he finished shooting his scenes.
This incident indicates what a fake, pervert and dishonest person he is.
In order to stop this man from fooling others we must take a step forward and develop
an experiment that will force him to think hundred times before fooling people.
Avoid a Scandal
