3. Michael Jordan is often regarded as one of, if not the most
effective and efficient offensive players in National Basketball
Association (NBA) history. In recent years,NBA players and
teams have significantly increased their three-point shots per
game, highlighting one of the few perceived deficiencies in Jordan’s
offensive arsenal.
4. Jordan once explained his reluctance to shoot more consistently from
a distance as a fear that it might ultimately take away from his overall
game. Jordan further explained that his approach of driving to the
basket and dishing to teammates requires a more aggressive mindset
than shooters who set up on the three-point line and wait for a pass.
Ironically, Jordan made these comments after going six for 10 from the
three in a 1992 NBA Finals game against the Portland Trail Blazers,
resulting in his infamous "Jordan shrug" moment and a Finals record
that stood until 2010.
5. Jordan averaged 32.7 percent
shooting from beyond the arc,
substandard in today’s league.
However,Jordan’s two best three-
point shooting seasons came in the
last three seasons of his career,at
42.7 and 37.4 percent,suggesting he
could have adapted his game to a
more three-point-friendly NBA.
