This document outlines the structure and rules for the MIA-Sunway TES Accounting Quiz 2013. It describes a multi-stage quiz open to secondary school students in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya. The qualifying, preliminary, quarterfinal, and semifinal rounds will narrow the field from any number of initial registrants down to the top 10 teams. These 10 teams will then compete in-person in the live final round, consisting of three stages testing speed and accuracy of answering accounting multiple choice questions to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

2. Quiz Structure
• Registration (22 June -5 July 2013)
• Registrations are done ONLINE.
• Schools may register as many teams as they wish whereby each team
shall comprise of 4 members.
• Open to Form 4 & 5 students of secondary schools in Selangor, Federal
Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. These include national
secondary schools (regular), secondary schools (fully residential),
technical secondary schools, national religious secondary schools,
national religious assisted secondary schools, private schools, Chinese
independent high schools and MARA Junior Science Colleges.
• Qualifying Round (22 June - 5 July 2013, Results: 11 July 2013)
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to be completed in 3O mins.
• ONLY 2 teams from each school shall proceed to the next stage
(Preliminary Round).

3. Quiz Structure
• Preliminary Round (13 July – 19 July 2013, Results: 25 July 2013)
• The selected 160 teams will be competing for the Quarter Final Round.
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to be completed in 30 mins.
• ONLY the top 80 teams will be selected based on their team’s total points.
• Quarter Final Round (27 July -2 August 2013, Results: 8 August 2013)
• The selected 80 teams will be competing for the Semi Final Round.
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to be completed in 30 mins.
• ONLY the top 40 teams will be selected based on their teams’ total points.
• Semi Final Round (10 August – 16 August 2013, Results: 22 August 2013)
• The selected 40 teams will be competing for the Final Round.
• A test of 50 MCQs for each team member to be completed in 30 mins.
• ONLY the top 10 teams will be selected based on their teams’ total points.

4. Quiz Structure
• Final Round (LIVE) – 7 September 2013 @ Sunway College in Petaling Jaya,
Selangor Darul Ehsan
• The Final Round of the MIA-Sunway TES Accounting Quiz 2013 (AQ2013)
comprises of three stages.
• The selected 10 teams will compete in Stage 1 & Stage 2 of the Final
Round of AQ2013.
• After Stage 1 & 2, the top 5teams will advance to Stage 3.
• The three stages in the Final Round are :-
• Stage 1: Rapid Answer
The teams will be tested in speed answering. The teams will be
represented by one member of the team. They will have to answer as
many questions as possible within a given duration.

5. Quiz Structure
• Stage 2: Question Selection for Opponent Teams
The teams will be divided into two groups with each group having five
teams each. The teams will have the opportunity to choose the
questions for the other teams within the same group. Points will be
deducted for each wrong answer.
• Stage 3: Push Buzz Button
The teams will be tested in speed answering by trying to be the first in
hitting the buzz button. Points will be deducted for each wrong
answer.
• The total points accumulated by the teams in Stage 3 will determine the
1st,2nd and 3rd placing of the 5 teams. If there is a tie, the Sudden Death
Round will be implemented.
