American football is the fifth most popular sport in Mexico despite not having a professional league. It has an important college tradition and many children's teams in urban areas. In international competitions, Mexico has won gold and silver medals in youth championships but has primarily finished in bronze or silver in the Football World Cup, last placing fourth in 2011 after losing to Japan. Their national team is called the Mexican Warriors.
