Benjamin Taylor gives 11 game post mortems from a decade of rapid prototyping experience. Presented initially at IGDA's Boston Post Mortem in Cambridge, MA on Wed, Jan 15th, 2014. - “Don’t be afraid to fail”, “find new friends”, “learn something new”, you’ve heard all the reasons why participating in a jam is the right thing to do, but let’s face it, you came in wanting to succeed at making a game. This is your chance to learn from a pro how to do things right and make your jam experience a crowning success, regardless of role and experience. Ben Taylor (EA/Nexon) illustrates how to succeed at making a prototype in 36 hours and demonstrate your utility in the game development process.
Ben Taylor has participated in dozens of game jams and hackathons including all of the Global Game Jams, Ludem Dare, and IGN’s game development reality show “The Next Game Boss”. Ben has worked with the game industry for more than a decade starting with Red Octane and most recently as a game engineer at Nexon Mobile in San Francisco. His most recently released game is the new adaptation of “SimCity” (2013) by EA Maxis.

We often talk about it but, when it comes to being precise, we don't always agree what constitutes good code, nor do we necessarily share a common view on its value.

Este seminario se imparte en el contexto del Programa de Doctorado en Formación en la Sociedad del Conocimiento el 27 de marzo de 2017. El objetivo es llamar la atención de todos los doctorandos sobre la necesidad de mantener un perfil digital como investigadores en los principales portales de perfiles y redes sociales verticales sobre investigación para visibilizar su producción científica. El mantenimiento de la información que se quiere compartir en estos medios requiere de un esfuerzo para que el perfil sea confiable y la visibilidad de la producción científica del investigador tenga más posibilidades de retornar un aumento de sus citas y, por tanto, del impacto de su trabajo. Hablar de identidad digital en investigación conlleva el tener que tocar el tema de la Ciencia Abierta y las políticas de Conocimiento Abierto que se están desarrollando a nivel internacional. En el seminario también se hará un recorrido por los principales medios y gestores de identidad que actualmente conforman la oferta existente. De ellos se destacarán los perfiles que un investigador del siglo XXI no permitirse no tener y no cuidar (WoS, Scopus, ORCID, Google Scholar, ResearchGate), mientras que otros pueden abrirse y atenderse de una forma menos intensiva a decisión del investigador (Academia, Kudos, Mendeley, etc.).
