Solar Power By Melissa Arnaud and Brooke Murphy Period:4 November 3,2009
What is solar energy? Solar energy is energy from the sun. It is a renewable resource and it can help power a lot of things like cars and even our houses.
How it powers things:
How Solar Power is used today: To power cars, homes, and buildings Heat/ cool water and homes Cook food Helps grow plants because plants use photosynthesis.
Why it's good for the environment: It helps the pollution level go down. It is better for the environment than fossil fuels and coal. Solar Energy doesn't pollute the Earth it helps reverse global warming.
How it's stored: Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to harness the energy. Solar energy's uses are limited only by human cleverness. Solar radiation is stored into the panels and powers what ever it’s powering.
Economic Impacts of Solar Energy: The economic impact is supply/ demand. Solar will boom as more people think solar will be useful. It can also save you money in the long run.
FACTS: Renewable Resource Can Power a lot of other things than cars and homes. From the sun.
