Though the campus is superb it is the people who represent SGU, the
professors, the students, and the staff who make this school special.
Here we are with the provost Dr. Jacobs and the vice chancellor Dr.
Leibowitz at the International Student centre that opened recently in the
campus. We first met Dr. Leibowitz back in Toronto when he visited us
together with Ms Molly O’Neil.

On behalf of the thousands of
Canadian students whom he
guided and advised we have
adopted Dean Bob Ryan in
the Canadian team! There are
no words sufficent to thank
him for each and every
student he advised,
encouraged, supported, and
helped! From remembering all
their names, to personally
calling our students to
congratulate them when they
get such generous
scholarships from SGU
(about 3 million dollars for
our students in 5 years!), from
answering any request from
us within minutes, to being
one of the most supportive
person we know, Dean Ryan
earned his Canadian award.
He is joined here by the other
3 pillars of the Canadian SGU
team: Ms Banner (former CEO
of CaRMS) and Mr Vahidi and,
in spirit, by Mr Furrey.

World renowned scholars are leading the SGU as the university is able to
attract the best educators from around the globe to share their wealth of
expertise with our students. Here we are with Dr. Leikomas, Dean of Basic
Sciences and Dr. Olson, dean of veterinary medicine (who also has a twin
sister!).

Dr. Rao, Dean of Students, is one of the first 5 professors of SGU. He
welcomed us so warmly in his beautiful office. Thank you for the SGU key
chains and sharing your journey and memories of building what is now SGU.

at a time.
We appreciate your
encouraging us to
build our program in
Toronto. It was
great to find out
that both our fathers
were Geneticists!!!!!
and trained at
Harvard and other
top schools in USA!

Attending the white coat ceremony
is a very emotional experience for
family, friends, students, faculty
and staff. Here is Manal, our future
doctor! Later on we celebrated
this great achievement at a

Pedram, and Khan from our
pre-med and advising program in
Toronto!
As we had students in all
5 colleges, we attended
all 5 !!!! white coat
ceremonies -the start of
the medical career for
our future doctors. So

Twice a year during the white coat ceremony, SGU organizes Family
week-end, including activities for families and friends who come to cheer
the new students. Island tours, receptions after ceremonies, and a late night
BBQ on the beach are some of the highlights!

Absent from the Canadian tour but
present in spirit was Mr. Charles
Furey, Director of Admission and
former MPP (5 times!!!!!!!!! in
Newfoundland) who sent us his
wishes and 2 beautiful SGU padfolios!
Back in Canada he was busy
supporting Canadian students in their
journey to Medicine! Thank you on
behalf of all our students!

Vahidy from SGU on the bridge of success between our programs. We
consider our students as our own kids and we are relieved to know
that they are in such good hands when they finish our program in
Toronto and move on to SGU programs.

The Biochemistry prof is really cool. Students joke that you will like him even if
he fails you!

It was the 3rd birthday of the daughter of Rabbi Rozmarin on the Friday night
we visited. She is now considered mature enough to light Shabbat candles
and pray. The kids were playing doctor games, proving that is never too early
to start preparing for your medical school application!

The People of SGU slideshow would not be complete without the people of Grenada! Grenada is
one of the happiest, most welcoming nations we have visited!

Thank you to the hard working, and
at the same time laid back people of
Grenada. The atmosphere in the
island is calm and safe. The
Grenadians help each other and
smile a lot. They offer to walk with
you to show you a place or a bus
station. On Sundays the cities are
shut down and everyone goes to
churches mainly dressed in white.
The police are fortunate that most
of their duties revolve around
minor collisions on the windy roads
of the island.
