Here will show our planning for filming and
editing
*Here is our first schedule for our Waterloo filming.
*Due to legal changes encountered during filming in Waterloo I
had to rewrite a new schedule during the journey to Oxshott
station.
*8:00 Meet Tom at Surbiton station with camera, tripod and
microphone for 8:02 with the train arriving at Waterloo for 8:31.
*During the train journey from 8:05-8:30 opening shots are to be
filmed with myself on the train, moving, looking scared etc.
*Once arrived at Waterloo 35 minutes would be spent on Mise en
Scene shots such as trains leaving and entering the station.
*From 9:06-9:45 is time for us to experiment with a variety of
shots going to the barriers and myself walking up the platform
(try close ups of face and feet to show emotion).
*From 9:45-10:35 create shots of myself going towards the ticket
machine.
*10:35-11:35 Create the complex of myself walking through the
barriers. This complex should take about 15 minutes towards the
barrier and the close up of me putting the ticket into the ticket
machine because only one take would be possible and 25
minutes exiting the barriers and experimenting with shot angles.
There is enough time left in this time slot for reshoots etc.
*11:40-12:05 Is the time given for the build up to the chase
scene.
*12:10-1:45 Is for the main chase scene to take place. This will be
very lengthy as commuters may look at the camera etc.
*1:45-2:00- Is when we have a ‘break’, charge the camera more
and look over the footage taken and if any shots need to be
retaken.
*2:05-3:30 The continuation of the chase scene outside. The
ending/cliffhanger is included in this time period.
*3:30-5:00 Is the 1.5 hour period which I have left incase there
are any problems during the day or any reshoots are required.
*We were approached with the legal problems at about 8:30. It
took about another 30 minutes to inform George about the
problems (because he was not with us due to other
commitments and we only needed him later that day and where
we intended to film).
*We got the 9:09 train from Waterloo to Vauxhall and arrived at
9:13 where we were told, similar to Waterloo that we needed a
permit which had to have been approved 30 days prior to
filming.
*I then suggested Clapham Junction as it still possessed the busy
atmosphere we desired. Once again we were informed that we
could not film without a permit because people did not like
being unexpectedly filmed. One worker did say that “an empty
or not very busy station would not be a problem if it was for a
small school project”.
*With that in mind myself and Tom thought to film at Oxshott
station as was not very busy and was very close to school. We
then took the next available train which was the 10:17 train
arriving at Oxshott station at 10:42. this left me 25 minutes to
rewrite the filming schedule and to slightly amended the script
to the new environment.
*10:42-10:43 Shots of me exiting the train.
*10:45-11:20 Variety of shots of me walking down the
platform(including facing shots and point of view shots (so we
had more of a variety of shots to ‘play’ with during editing)).
*11:20-11:45 Film the under bridge complex.
*11:45-11:55 Shoot close ups of watch.
*12:00-12:30 Shots of George walking into station and shoot brief
case close ups during this period.
*12:30-1:00 Bridge shots and myself sitting on bench. Enough
time if reshoots are needed.
*1:05-1:30 Dialogue scene of George on phone. Enough time if
reshoots are needed.
*1:30-2:00 Point of view of me taking briefcase. Enough time if
reshoots are needed.
*2:05-2:45 Alternative shots of me running and alternative angle
of George running after me.
*2:45-4:30 Chase scene complex (refer to final script).
*4:30-5:00 Half an hour left if any reshoots needed or gone
overtime on any parts of the schedule. 5:00 at the very latest as
will begin to get dark then.
*Overall we had roughly twenty periods of our own lesson time to
complete the film. With this in mind as director and ‘co-
director’ I created the editing schedule for myself and Tom to
follow:
*Spend 3.5 periods choosing all of the footage and best shots out
of all our filming time and putting them in right order.
*Spend 2.5 periods cropping each shot ensuring a good flowing
shots.
*Spend 3 periods on special effects eg camera shutter shots.
*Spend 2 periods on adjusting lighting correcting and adjustment
especially if some shots shot later in day.
*Spend 3 periods on enhancing or reducing sound (general sound
correction) and sound effects eg gun shots etc.
*Spend 1.5 period on camera stabilization reducing shake.
*Spend 3 periods on inserting credits and intro.
*If we go along to this schedule created 1.5 periods should be left
for checking the film flows well, there is nothing missing, all
shots are cropped and to the best of our ability and is generally
as professional as possible. Half a period could be used for this if
we need to go over and use the other period for any other
reason.
