This document discusses proposed age restrictions on music videos in the UK. The British Board of Film Classification would rate videos on YouTube and Vevo as 12, 15, or 18. 2.  In todays music industry the videos created for artists tracks are
arguably unacceptable for viewing of all aged audiences. With
many music videos included sexually explicit content, it is
understandable why people want to restrict certain videos.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

3.  All music videos will be sent to the British Board of Film
Classification (BBFC)to be judged on what age the video should
be available for and who the video should be restricted to.
 The videos hosted on YouTube and Vevo will get a rating of
either 12, 15, or 18.
WHAT IS THE PROPOSED SOLUTION?

4.  This solution has been proposed to stop under age children
watching videos with content to explicit for their age, PM David
Cameron claims the reason for this solution is "to help parents
protect their children from some of the graphic content in online
music videos".
WHY HAS THIS SOLUTION BEEN PROPOSED?

5.  The benefits of this policy being introduced is that it will prevent
young children from being exposed to visual content in music
videos that is explicit or of sexual or violent nature. The problem
with the internet is that children can easily access most things on
the web, this solution should help to slowly diminish the vast
amount of unsuitable content, through harsh age restrictions and
barriers on the videos themselves.

6.  The disadvantages of this solution is that, as Artist Ben Howard
claims, the solution may be too late as children have already
been able to access these videos with out problems, and this
may be seen as back-tracking.

7.  The limitations of this policy is that certain viewers may be
restricted from seeing the videos even if they are old enough to
view it. This is because certain YouTube accounts may be shared
by families. Furthermore,

8.  Personally, I don’t believe the restrictions will make a substantial
change as in relation to the internet, most restrictions can be
overcome one way or another.
