The Sulzbacher Center will host its third annual Family Walk and Fun Festival on March 1st at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach. The event will include a walk starting at 9 AM, followed by bounce houses, face painting, food samples, and live music. Proceeds will benefit Beaches Community Healthcare, a clinic of the Sulzbacher Center that provides care to uninsured beach residents. At the event, Dr. Tom Hilton from Baptist Beaches will be honored for saving a patient's life by referring him to Beaches Community Healthcare for treatment after he was unable to afford care.

Beaches Community Healthcare Honors Baptist
Beaches Doctor as "Beaches Healthy Hero"
JACKSONVILLE, FL (September 11, 2013) - On Saturday, March 1, Beaches
Community Healthcare, a Sulzbacher Center clinic will host its third annual Family
Walk and Fun Festival at the Seawalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach. Walk registration
opens at 8:30 AM and the Walk starts at 9:00 AM. Individuals can pre-register online
at www.SulzbacherCenter.org or onsite the morning of the Walk. After the Walk there
will be lots of fun activities throughout the day for families including bounce houses,
face painting, healthy food samples and live music. The event will be emcee'ed by
Keitha Nelson and Mike Prangley of First Coast News.
At the event Beaches Community Healthcare is going to honor a Cardiologist from
Baptist Beaches that recently saved a patient’s life. Dr. Tom Hilton has volunteered
monthly at Beaches Community Healthcare since 2011. Once a month he holds a
special cardiac evening clinic for low-income uninsured beach residents. One day,
while Dr. Hilton was working at the hospital, a patient was referred to him from the ER
with heart failure. He was uninsured and could not afford the long-term intensive care
that he needed. Dr. Hilton referred the patient to Beaches Community Healthcare and
was able to treat him there. Dr. Hilton made sure that the man had stress tests, got a
wearable cardioverter defibrillator and is now on the heart transplant list. His condition
is very serious but thanks to Dr. Hilton's intervention we were able to save a man's life.
All proceeds from this event benefit Beaches Community Healthcare, a Sulzbacher
Center clinic. Beaches Community Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Healthcare
Center for uninsured beaches residents. Last year we had over 8,000 patient visits in
our dental, behavioral health and medical clinics.
