Short-fiber composites are materials made of a polymer matrix with short fibers embedded within. The modulus, or stiffness, of short-fiber composites depends on factors like the fiber modulus, fiber volume fraction, fiber orientation, and fiber length. Short-fiber composites have properties between the pure polymer and continuous fiber composites due to the fibers reinforcing the matrix at a micro-scale level.
