What is Executive Coaching? Unlock Potential Through 1-on-1 Conversations
1. What is Executive Coaching?
Coaching is a particularly powerful tool in the modern workplace – one that has proven to
be a highly effective way of developing individual and organisational performance by
unlocking capability.
Executive coaching is a specific type of development which involves a series of one-to-one
conversations between a skilled coach and a leader/executive.
The main focus of coaching concentrates on work-related issues and performance
improvement of the individual.
Executive Coaching is very effective to:
Increase personal effectiveness of individuals within an executive or leadership role
Increase the transfer of learning post-training intervention
Support individuals who have been recently promoted into a leadership role
Support senior leaders through organisational change
Support talent and succession planning
Support the induction of executives into a new role or new organisation.
How it works
The aim of the coach is to facilitate a conversation that will stimulate the leader to explore
ideas and potential solutions with a confidential ‘sounding board’.
Coaching sessions are structured within a framework of sessions over a set period of time.
2. Coaching has many benefits and certainly ‘one-size does not fit all’. Our assignments range
from one-off individual packages to supporting team assignments e.g. a number of
individuals at middle/senior management level. We also offer in-company coaching
programmes to support the development of internal coaching either by dedicated
individuals or line-manager responsibility.
All our coaching assignments contain clear measures to demonstrate and validate the return
on investment of the coaching intervention.
2-Way Agreements - Senior executives may choose to engage with a coach directly. The
structure and focus of the coaching sessions will be based on their own independently
identified need.
3-Way Agreements - Alternatively, the client can be sponsored by another member of the
organisation e.g. Human Resources/Managing Director. In this way we agree the outcomes
of the coaching assignment with both the organisational sponsor and the leader/executive
in order to ensure alignment and agreement.
3. Packages
Typically our coaching packages consist of:
A series of coaching sessions of 90-minute duration
o (The number of coaching sessions required will be based on the individual
needs of the coachee).
An initial alignment or “set up” conversation in which specific goals are agreed,
and the role of the coachee’s sponsor/organisation in supporting the coachee will
be discussed
Email and phone support if needed between sessions.
Ad Hoc Coaching
We provide programmes that enable our clients to contact their coach on an ‘ad hoc’ basis
when they need them, for example when they need to rehearse or prepare for a key
meeting, take a complex decision or work through a strategy.
Quarterly Check-Up
When working independently our momentum to achieve our objectives can be maintained
when we know our coach will arrive for a quarterly ‘check-up’ meeting. These sessions can
be used to review where we are with our goals and plan both the next quarter and confirm
longer term direction. Clients still have guaranteed access to their coach between these
meetings if needed.
Contact us for more information and meet with our Executive Coach for an informal
discussion to see how executive coaching may support leaders within your organisation.
