As medicine undergoes a rapid digital transformation, the emergence of large quantities of healthcare related data is inevitable. This has been accelerated by COVID-19, with one example being the use of digital health passes. Consideration around holding, presenting, and accessing the information will be vital in continuing the trust built between patients, clinicians, and organizations.
Check out our April 28, 2021 webinar, where we hosted Dr. Manreet Nijjar, Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases at Barts Health NHS Trust, NHS England Clinical Entrepreneur fellow, and co-founder of Truu. He shared an insider’s perspective on how providers can benefit from more trusted, user-centric data and what it takes to design for the complex privacy, regulatory, and ethical needs facing healthcare.
We covered:
• Lessons learned from working with self-sovereign identity (SSI) at the NHS, and the needs highlighted when leading the frontline response during COVID-19
• What digital health passes mean for the adoption of SSI
• Applying the four principles of healthcare ethics to verifiable credential technology
• The top use cases for healthcare, including “staff passports” and portable health records

Leveraging mobile technology, as well as blockchain and other more recent innovations, companies like Wala and Veridium are looking to bring banking services to the under- and unbanked in Sub-Saharan Africa. Tricia Martinez of Wala discusses the challenges they had to overcome in this project, and the lessons they've learned along the way, as well as why biometric authentication played an important role in making this effort possible in the first place.
Exchange of documents and data in commercial organizations is normally accomplished using traditional workflow methodologies. Successful implementation of workflow in these organizations is encouraging agencies that did not look at these workflow methodologies favorably because data and documents exchanged were considered confidential and restricted and for use only by authorized users. The workflow in these organizations requires that user be authenticated before accessing the document/data as well as
obtain their signatures at each step due to legal requirements associated with these processes. In addition retaining the confidentiality of the document/data based on user authentication is of utmost concern. Recent advances in digital signature technology and its use in replacing traditional signature have opened
the possibility of creating a successful document/data exchange workflow for authenticated documents and data. Further this approach could be extended to authenticate each user and their role to meet confidentiality and security requirement. Some of the processes that can be identified for authenticated document/data exchange are:
• Document/data exchange associated with healthcare document requiring HIPAA compliance.
• Judicial transactions like TRO’s (Temporary Restraining Order) etc.

This document discusses using blockchain technology to improve electronic health records (EHRs) by giving patients more control over their medical data. It proposes a system where each patient's health records are stored in an immutable blockchain that is distributed across multiple healthcare organizations. This would allow patients to access their full medical history from any doctor and reduce errors, while maintaining privacy and security. The key benefits are providing complete and accurate health data to doctors, enabling fast access to records, and securely sharing information between healthcare providers and patients. Blocks of health record transactions are time-stamped and linked using cryptography to form an auditable chain that cannot be altered without detection.

Blockchain, Biometrics, and the Future of Financial ServicesVeridium
Blockchain technologies are reshaping banking as we know it. More financial institutions are embracing this technology, and consumers and enterprises alike need to know where it's going. We take a look at the evolution of digital currencies and how biometric authentication fits in, with guest speaker Barry Childe of HSCB.
Secure Authentication for Mobile Banking Customers with mVerify™M2SYS Technology
Mobile banking (mbanking) has quietly emerged as a critical and inevitable weapon in the ongoing battle to retain customers and reduce expenses. Mobile transactional costs are lower than desktop transactions and represent the fastest growing portion of the consumer financial
service business. In fact, many customers will willingly switch allegiances to financial service institutions that offer the convenience and speed of mobile banking versus brick and mortar transactions only.
However, the precipitous rise in mobile financial service applications comes at a cost. Many consumers are skeptical that mobile platforms and mbanking applications are equipped with the proper security measures to turn their phone into a strong authentication device. As
younger generations demand expanded mobile financial service applications, the need for the industry to demonstrate a commitment to increasing the security of these transactions is rising rapidly.

The benefits of an ePCR solution should extend to the whole EMS organization, not just certain groups of people or certain departments. It should provide more than just a form for entering and a database for storing information. It should also include a workflow of how information is communicated, used and stored across the entire organization.

Mercurius is named after the roman god mercurius, the god of trade and science. The planet mercurius is named after the same god. Mercurius is sometimes called hydrargyrum, means ‘watery silver’. Its shine and colour are very similar to silver, but mercury is a fluid at room temperatures. The name quick silver is a translation of hydrargyrum, where the word quick describes its tendency to scatter away in all directions.
The droplets have a tendency to conglomerate to one big mass, but on being shaken they fall apart into countless little droplets again. It is used to ignite explosives, like mercury fulminate, the explosive character is one of its general themes.

5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.

3. THE PROBLEM
COVID-19 is easily spread from person-to-person contact,
can survive on surfaces from a few hours to a few days, and
can be transmitted through aerosolization.
Pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals can spread
COVID-19.
Businesses want to return to normal operations, but rely on
government to tackle COVID-19 exposure within the
workplace.
Service and Retail businesses are most likely to open and close
because businesses don’t know how to protect their
employees and customers.
Significant cost of quarantine for 14 days if an employee gets
COVID-19 as everyone he/she came in contact with has to be
quarantined. A super-spreader would even close the facility.
Out of necessity, countries are establishing travel bubbles
amongst“green” countries, heavily reliant on pre- and post-
travel testing,and national immunization programs.
