- My name is Ran Machtinger founder and CEO of OptiTex Ltd Israel.
- OptiTex is a software house that has concentrated on the development of innovative software solutions for the Apparel and Sewn Products industry for the last 20 years.
- When we talk about Sewn Products we mean: garments of all kind, furniture, car and aircraft seats, tents, gloves, composite material, leather and other related materials. You can see by the very partial list of clients that we cover all these areas.
- In my presentation, I would like to focus on OptiTex's stand on Mass Customization. Statistically, apparel is the second largest consumable product after food. Because of this, it is apparent that the apparel industry takes an important part in each and every individual's life (all of us in this room can collectively agree on the importance of clothing. Without the textile industry, winter fashion would have a new and probably more offensive meaning).

- Quote: Su-Jeong Hwang Shin – Texas Tech University – Dr. Shin has been researching the U.S. men’s apparel industry. At $70 billion per year, it includes about $49 billion in men’s sportswear. In evaluating 34 body dimensions of the over 3600 men included in the SizeUSA database, Dr. Shin’s research concluded that 56% of the men in the survey would not fit into the standard regular sizing for men’s apparel. Her analysis separated men into four categories – slim; heavy inverted (athletic or big/tall); slant inverted (regular); and short, round top.
- THE CHALLENGE: (Is there a problem?) Our appearance defines us as individuals and each one of us comes in a unique shape and size; OptiTex brings that reality to your computer screen. What we mean is that OptiTex has created a solution to offer individuals all mainstream fits tailored specifically from the same kind of cloth, with the same (or different) colors or texture for an affordable price within an affordable time frame

- The solution that OptiTex provides is a 3 Dimensional Virtual, Pre-Production image. This image that will fit a specific request, based on an existing prototype product. This image will be accessible through the Internet with maximum flexibility and fast response time. Essentially, OptiTex aims to present a "Real Time", virtual dressing room that includes personalized environmental capabilities”. But let’s take it step by step….

Some people who wish to stick to some other kind of a fashion. The raw material used is fixed and tends to change from one person to the other. Not everyone knows their own body shape, [OptiTex allows them to view their body shape in 3D] When we go to the shop, we wish to see how the garments fit our body and our image. Most people would like to see their own face, when they wear a garment With today’s fast Internet services, people would not want to wait more than a few seconds to view a webpage, regardless of the type of content it includes. - The concept : People tend to look for a solution that will fit their special personality or match the image they tend to have or the image they wish to expose to the rest of the world. - Consumers want to have garments that fit them and contribute to their appearance. Consumers are ready to pay more if they will have the choice to find the right product. On top of that, if the consumer has the chance to influence, even a little bit, in the way the product will look like, they will be ready to pay more and from that moment on, they are committed to the product, because it was their choice. Some examples can already be seen at the NIKE ID, where OptiTex took part in the project. A similar solution is implemented with some other fashion providers that would allow their user to influence the final look of their basic product. There are few ways to look and solve issues that are related to the Mass Customization issues. They are related to the type of: Market, Client, Product and also Costs.

- The solution : Offer an application that will allow any user to input their Body measurement with maximum accuracy ( Picture - and may be to show the EN ) Provide a software that will allow any apparel provider to create a Made To Measure garment product, that will fit, all or most of prospective visitors to their sitting and dressing room ( Show Grading and MTM ) Gather a database with all possible textures, colors, logos, embellishments that will fit their styles. ( Picture - Uri Example – Mix and Match ) Create a Mix and Match library that will allow the user to "Try-on" different combination of garments. Produce a fashion show movie
