Manual australiano de manejo de bezerros de corte [em inglês]AgroTalento
Weaning calves is primarily done to benefit the cow by reducing her nutritional demands and allowing her body condition to recover. This improves her chances of reconceiving in the next mating period. Removing the need to produce milk is equivalent to supplementing the cow with 2kg of grain or 3kg of molasses daily. Weaning is most effective when done before the cow's body condition declines, as occurs when pasture quality decreases late in the growing season. Maintaining the cow in good body condition (BCS 3 or higher) is important for high fertility and low mortality in the breeder herd.
The kindergarten class celebrated the arrival of spring with a tree planting party and dance. They learned about seeding, transplanting, and observing plants grow. For Easter, the children looked for eggs left by the Easter bunny. They celebrated Earth Day and spent time outside observing nature, running, climbing trees, finding treasures, and respecting the environment. The class studied the life cycle of a caterpillar as it transformed into a butterfly over three months. They cared for baby birds and enjoyed exploring spring in their classroom and outdoors.
Heat stress poses a major challenge for ruminant production. Accumulated Heat Load Units (AHLU) provides a better indicator of heat stress over time compared to the traditional Temperature Humidity Index (THI), which only measures a single moment. Effective nutritional interventions for heat stress include Diamond V to promote intake and rumen health, Acidbuf to prevent rumen acidosis, and natural betaine to reduce maintenance requirements.
