ARTS INTEGRATION
SUSTAINABLITY PLAN 2016
1. Designated arts integration time with art teacher
2. Assembling a sequence of arts integrated units across grade levels
taught each year
3. Create a scope and sequence of a specific skill (scientific drawing)
school-wide: that can be integrated in art and the classroom
4. Correlation of art, engineering and design
5. Analyzing art using the Critical Response Protocol
6. Current research on arts integration shared with our staff,
administration and school board
Arts Integration
Sustainability Plan
Designated arts integration time with visual art teacher
• 3 hours per school week are designated to arts integration with the
visual art teacher
• Collaboration time between classroom teachers and visual
arts teacher
• Co-teaching time between visual arts teacher and classroom
teachers
• Visual arts teacher prepares art related items for classroom
teachers to use to integrate arts solo in the classroom
Assembling a sequence of arts integrated units across
grade levels taught each year
Creating a comprehensive list/menu of arts integrated units
including:
• Unit plans created with the PAINT initiative
• Plans created through designated arts integration times
• Things other arts teachers (music and physical education)
are doing with students
• Menu of ideas for classroom teacher to easily integrate
the arts into their lesson plans daily.
Create a scope and sequence of a specific skill (scientific
drawing) school-wide: that can be integrated in art and
the classroom
• Streamlining a unit on
Scientific Drawing across
grade levels that is
standards based and
developmentally
appropriate
Correlation of art, engineering and design
Analyzing art using the Critical
