In the English language, a word could have more than one meaning depending on the use and context to which the word is applied.
Contexts- The context of a word, sentence, or text consists of the words, sentences, or text before and after it which help to make its meaning clear.
First- Slay means to kill violently or in great numbers.
Second- Slay refers to a condition by which an activity or performance is done in an excellent manner.
Given that a word can be used in various sentences that depict different contexts, do you think it is important that we provide a clear and accurate definition of a word?
Words are not as simple as they appear. Their meanings can be complex and difficult as they operate differently in various contexts. The word plant, for instance, can be used in Biology, but it can also be utilized differently when we talk about business production. It could mean differently in Engineering.
In technical writing, one way to define terms is through technical definitions.
