An unnamed object experiences weathering events as it breaks apart and moves through different environments, including rolling down a hill, being struck by lightning and hail, floating down a river, and finally being hit by a glacier which grinds it down to a grain of sand. Throughout its journey it calls out for its mother, afraid and in pain as pieces of it break off. In the end, it reflects on the lesson it has learned about how weathering can continuously change a rock's form over time.

Robert the Rock was living on a mountain when a landslide caused him to roll down the side and fall into a creek. The heavy rain turned the creek into a lake, which carried Robert to new places downstream. The flowing water eventually led Robert into a big creek and out to the ocean, where waves deposited him onto a beach. Over time, the cycles of water wore Robert down from a rock to a grain of sand.

1) The narrator travels around Australia, visiting Sydney, vineyards in the Hunter region, and Kings Cross where he is tranquilized after witnessing a shooting.
2) He awakens tied up on a boat near the Great Barrier Reef and frees himself by cutting the ropes. On a nearby island, he encounters wildlife like crocodiles and birds.
3) He washes up on a beach in Queensland and encounters nudists before continuing on to Brisbane. While there, he is knocked out after confronting the people who had kidnapped him.

Tarry the pebble warrior felt smaller and discovered he was by a stream, thinking he had been weathered. He walked and came upon a young river, then a mountain lion which he tamed as a pet. They ran together and found a mature river for a swim, then a forest. In the forest they found an old river and clearing, seeing a deep delta. They made a raft and floated to a beach, where Tarry accomplished his mission to find an emerald-encrusted pineapple and make the lion his friend.

He then tamed a mountain lion as his companion and together they traveled through young and mature rivers, a forest, and old rivers, building a raft to cross a deep delta. Upon reaching a beach, Tarry accomplished his mission to return home to his emerald-encrusted pineapple rock, making the lion his friend.
Journey of a Grain of Sand
Sandy was a pebble relaxing on a cliff until the wind blew him into the river. As he crashed against rocks in the fast-moving water, Sandy broke into smaller pieces and feared for his life. Though the river slowed, it left Sandy alone and scared in the middle of nowhere. Another wave eventually pushed Sandy onto a beach where the other sands welcomed him as one of their own.

The waves crashed loudly against the shore like thunder. The hot sand burned the feet. The salty smell of the ocean drifted on the breeze. Children laughed and played in the crashing waves. It was a fun and enjoyable day at the beach.

William Douglas nearly drowned as a young boy when he was thrown into a deep swimming pool by an older boy. He experienced stark terror and panic as he struggled to reach the surface and breathe. This incident left him with a lifelong fear of water. As an adult, Douglas was determined to overcome this fear to fully enjoy outdoor activities. He took swimming lessons over several months to gradually build up his skills and confidence in the water. He then swam long distances alone in lakes to prove to himself that he had conquered his terror of drowning. Retelling his experience helped Douglas understand that conquering deep fears can give one a renewed sense of freedom and will to live.

- 6. I finally arrived at the ocean then I suddenly I was in a delta and I got stuck then I moved along the ocean.
- 7. I got washed up on the beach and then I was a grain of sand. For my past week on the beach, I have been stepped on, picked up and put down, and blown around by the wind. This is called erosion.
