Travels In Australia Day 1

  1. 1. Travels in Australia Toowoon Bay, Shelly Beach and The Entrance, New South Wales
  2. 2. <ul><li>We have come to Australia to visit Adele and John. Adele is Wendy’s daughter. Australia is a very, very long way away from England. It takes a long, long time to fly to Australia. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Toowoon Bay: on our very first morning in Australia we wake up early and sit at the dining table watching the birds in Adele and John’s garden. </li></ul>What do we see?
  4. 4. We see bright pink Galahs
  5. 5. … red, blue, yellow and green Rosellas
  6. 6. … and Rainbow Lorikeets
  7. 7. We even see a Kookaburra perched on the clothes dryer
  8. 8. <ul><li>Amazing! We can’t believe that the garden is full of such brightly coloured birds. </li></ul>Did you spot a bird that we see in our gardens in England? I wonder how it managed to travel all the way to Australia? These birds are called crested pigeons. They are not very colourful.
  9. 9. <ul><li>After breakfast we decide to go down to the beach </li></ul>
  10. 10. Footsteps! Is Wendy the only person on the beach?
  11. 11. <ul><li>We walk along and find this Puffer Fish washed up on the sand. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>… then we see some men who are surfing the waves. </li></ul>
  13. 13. <ul><li>… later we see families on the beach </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>John and Adele meet us at Shelly Beach. They decide to go in the sea. </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>Shelly Beach is very popular with swimmers and surfers. Can you see the lifeguard lookout tower? </li></ul>
  16. 16. In the afternoon we walk along the beach to The Entrance.
  17. 17. <ul><li>… the pelicans have gathered on the lake </li></ul>
  18. 18. <ul><li>… this one has found a very good lookout post. Can you see where this pelican is perching? </li></ul>
  19. 19. <ul><li>Now we know what they are waiting for. We are just in time to see the pelicans being fed. They are fed every afternoon at 3pm. </li></ul>
  20. 20. <ul><li>When we get home the Galahs are still feeding in the garden </li></ul>
  21. 21. <ul><li>… and John is washing his Ute . </li></ul><ul><li>We have had a really good day and we look forward to seeing more of Australia tomorrow. </li></ul>
