Mathematics developed significantly during the Medieval period. Leonardo of Pisa, also known as Fibonacci, wrote Liber Abaci in the early 1200s which introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals to Europe for the first time. This book described how to perform calculations using the new numerals.

Book of Calculation” (On the recognition of the nine Indian figures and
how all numbers are written with them; and how the numbers must be
held in the hands, and on the introduction to calculations. )
This was the first introduction of Hindu-Arabic numerals to Europe.
