This document contains three questions asking about strategic and intermediate level system dynamics modeling, management flight simulators versus interactive learning laboratories, and the differences between agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling. For the first question, the respondent is asked to define and provide examples of strategic and intermediate level modeling, and explain why system dynamics is more successful at those levels than operational modeling. The second question asks the respondent to define management flight simulators and interactive learning laboratories, explain how to build each based on a specific paper, and discuss whether a quasi participatory modeling approach makes them unnecessary. The third question asks the respondent to explain in detail the fundamental differences between agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling.

D) Give two examples (from what you have learned throughout the course) of the use of
system dynamics in “intermediate level” modeling. Explain briefly these examples.
E) From your point of view, why do you think that system dynamics is more successful
in strategic and intermediate levels modeling, rather than the operational level.
Second Question:
A) Explain, in details, the differences between Management Flight Simulators (MFS)
and Interactive Learning Laboratories (ILE).
B) Explain, in details, the steps required to build a MFS based on the paper tilted
“Introducing system dynamics to the BBC World Service”.
C) Explain, in details, the steps required to build an ILE based on the paper tilted
“Introducing system dynamics to the BBC World Service”.
D) From your point of view, do you agree (or not agree) that if the modeler(s) used the
quasi participatory model construction approach, then there is no need to build a MFS or
an ILE. Explain the reasons behind your answer.
Third Question:
Explain, in details, the fundamental differences between agent-based modeling and
system dynamics modeling.
