Mary the Queen Parish was established in 1954 to serve the Chinese community in Manila. The original chapel was located in Pasay City. In 1963, land was purchased in San Juan to build a new church and relocate the parish. The cornerstone for the new church was blessed in 1963 and it opened in 1965. Over the decades, additional buildings like a parish hall and adoration chapel were constructed. The parish continues to be led by Jesuit priests and serves the local community.

The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation.
Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism, and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation, participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.
What a wonderful tradition the Catholic Church has from its history, liturgy and faith. Praise be to you God the Holy Spirit for your continued guidance and inspiration to the Holy Catholic Church. :-)

Introduction
George W. Peters says “God is a God of missions. He wills missions. He commands missions. He demands missions. He made missions possible through His Son. He made actual missions in sending the Holy Spirit.” A wild Jungle desert, with no shelter against the burning sun, this was the condition of Mariamabad before the arrival and untiring works of Belgian Capuchin Friars especially Fr Felix and Fr Frank who converted this desert land to a pilgrimage for the faithful of the world especially of Pakistan.
History of Lahore Diocese
The first Roman Catholic chapel was constructed in Lahore in 1597 by Mughal Emperor Akbar. On the account of the letters received at Goa Christian Society by the Priests of Jesuit Christian Missions in 1595, Emperor Akbar had promised Jesuit Christian Priests the erection of the church.
Following the Emperor’s invitation, three separate Christian Jesuit Missions were sent off to Lahore by the Goa authorities, the first mission in 1583, the second in 1592, and the last mission in 1595. However, churches only began to be established in Lahore after the advent of the British in 1840.
In 1880 the Vicariate of Punjab was erected by the Separation from the Vicariate of Hindustan and was under the care of the Italian Capuchin Fathers. Before that Lahore was ecclesial and known as the Vicariate Apostolic, which had been separated from the Vicariate of Hindustan and had its see at Agra (Blondeel, A.
A short history of the Catholic Diocese of Lahore, p. 1). Two years later it was entrusted to the Belgian Province of the Capuchin Order (Directory). Over the years the boundaries of the diocese underwent several changes, as various areas were detached such as the Diocese of Multan, Rawalpindi, etc. On April 23, 1994, Lahore became an Archdiocese.
The Archdiocese of Lahore comprises the following civil boundaries: the whole of Lahore Division with the Districts of Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura. The Districts of Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal are in the Gujranwala Division. (Directory)
Beginning the Mission of Mariam Abad
On 14th August 1890, at the death of Mgr. Mouard, the first bishop of Lahore, 19. His Excellency Mgr. Emmanuel Van den Bosch was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Lahore diocese. Four months later, on 21st November 1890, he was appointed the second bishop of Lahore.
The new bishop first visited all the mission stations of his extensive diocese to find out the needs of the diocese. He purchased 126 acres of land from the government for 6.600 Rupees and later 500 adjacent acres more land from Gulab Singh.
Thus, by 1895, the church had approximately one square mile of land available to build the catholic village of Mariamabad near Khanqah Dogran, in the district of Sheikhupura (Capuchin Missionaries in Punjab, P. 29: Rooney, J. (1986).
Fifteen months after taking over the Lahore diocese he was appointed archbishop of Agra. Some Unpleasant Event In The History Of Mariamabad

National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, The Baclaran Church, Paranaq...Fergus Ducharme
The National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is located at the Baclaran Church in Manila. It is a rather modern Church and technically does not fit into the ‘mold’ of what we consider an Old and Historic Church. It was consecrated in 1958. It’s status as a National Shrine merits it consideration in our studies.
2. History
On September 20, 1954, Mary the Queen Personal
Parish for the Chinese was created by His
Excellency, Msgr. Rufino J. Santos, Archbishop of
Manila, by virtue of the faculty granted to him by the
Sacred Roman Consistorial Congregation (July
23, 1954). The parish chapel was located at 2437
Zamora Street, Pasay City. The personal parish had
the following limits: "In the north, boundary line of
Manila and Quezon City, towards the Marikina river in
the east, running down to the southern towns of
Rizal, comprising San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and
Makati; down the boundary lines of Cavite and
Laguna provinces. All the Chinese inhabitants will
constitute the members of the New Parish." At that
time, Fr. George Etienne Beauregard, S.J. was
appointed the first parish priest (November
24, 1954), while Fr. Luis Chia, S.J. was appointed the
first assistant parish priest (May 1963).
