NASA’S Branding Guidelines:
❏ Strict laws and regulations govern NASA policy regarding merchandising
requests for producing NASA-related merchandise.
❏ NASA-related merchandise is any product which features NASA
identifiers, emblems, devices or imagery
❏ NASA-approved merchandise requires the adherence to certain basic
standards on use of NASA identifiers, emblems, imagery, etc.
❏ Any requested exceptions to these standards must be sought and approved
in writing and in advance by the designee in the Headquarters Office of
Communications in accordance with law and regulation.
❏ The NASA Insignia was created in 1958 and was retired between 1976-
1992. In 1992, it was reinstated and is presently NASA’s official identifier.

1. How will you adapt their visual elements to the future?
○ I would keep the shape of the blue circle, but change the color.
○ Remove the red chevron affect.
○ I would add triangles to the letter “A’s” in NASA.
○ I would keep the design trendy and modern.
2. What will you do with their fonts and color pallete?
○ Font would be changed to “Source Code Pro.” The
reason is because, it is clear, readable, and looks almost like a
code typewriter.
○ The color palette would be:
i. Light Blue = Water/ Sky
ii. Coral= Sun/planets
