Martin Scorsese is an American film director, producer and screenwriter born in 1942 in New York City. He is regarded as one of the greatest film directors of all time known for thriller classics like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas. Scorsese was raised in Little Italy and attended New York University where he studied film, and has since directed over 40 films and won numerous awards including an Oscar for Best Director for The Departed.
