Marriage is to help married people sanctify themselves and
others. For this reason they receive a special grace in the
sacrament which Jesus Christ instituted. Those who are
called to the married state will, with the grace of God, find
within their state everything they need to be holy.

words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, And
striking their breast they say: through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault; then they continue: Therefore, I
ask blessed Mary Ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and
you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our

LITURGY OF THE WORD
FIRST READING: Jeremiah 31:31-32, 33-34
LECTOR: A reading from the Book of Prophet Jeremiah.
The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new
covenant in the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will
not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took
them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt.
But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will place the law within
them, and write upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they
shall be my people. No longer will they have need to teach their
friends and kinsmen how to know the Lord. All, from least to
greatest, shall know me, says the Lord.
The Word of the Lord.
ALL: Thanks be to God
RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Ps 148:1-14
LECTOR: The Lord is kind and merciful.
ALL: The Lord is kind and merciful.
LECTOR: Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being, bless his
holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his
benefits. (R)
LECTOR: Merciful and gracious is the Lord, slow to anger and
abounding in kindness. As a father has compassion on his
children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
(R)
LECTOR: But the kindness of the Lord is from eternity to
eternity toward those who fear him, and his justice toward
children’s children among those who keep his covenant. (R)

Love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love
than this: To lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my
friends if you do what I command you. I no longer speak of
you as slaves, for a slave does not know what his master is
about. Instead, I call you friends, Since I have made known to
you all that I heard from my Father. It was not you who chose
me; it was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit. Your fruit
must endure, so that all you ask the Father in my name he will
give you.”

Eucharistic Prayer II
PRIEST: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness,
make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down
your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may
become for us the Body and † Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his
Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave
it to his disciples, saying:
“TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU; AND EAT OF IT, FOR
THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR
YOU.”
In similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice
and, once more giving thanks, He gave it to his disciples,
12
13
saying:
“TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE
BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR
MANY, FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS
IN MEMORY OF ME.”
♫ The mystery of faith ♫
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and
Resurrection we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the
Chalice of Salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of
Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis
our Pope, and the order of bishops and all the clergy.
Be mindful also Lord, of John & Janice, whom you have
brought to their wedding day, so that by your grace they may
abide in mutual love and in peace.
Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep
in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your
mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy
on us all, we pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother
of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with the blessed
Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout
the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may
praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is
yours, forever and ever.
