This document provides an overview of best practices for eCommerce design. It discusses designing for the user experience, why good design is important, and recommended design processes. It also covers key design elements like search, checkout, and forms. The document recommends optimizing the design after launch using analytics and user feedback. It suggests tools like Google Analytics, Feng GUI, Loop11, and Clicktale that can help with testing and optimization.
The document discusses caring for others and provides tips for designers on caring for clients and projects. It suggests getting the brief and starting work (step 1), designing and building the project (step 2), and getting ready to complete it (step 3). It warns that projects can go well or badly depending on technical limitations, client demands, and how well the final build matches the original design. It advises designers to do quality work and avoid cutting corners.
The document discusses how to successfully manage offshore software development for small and medium sized US companies. It outlines some of the key benefits of offshoring like reduced costs while maintaining quality. However, it also notes some common problems like language and cultural barriers. The document recommends having a solid design, realistic project plans, monitoring implementation, thorough testing and choosing a partner with good processes and people for long term success with offshoring. It emphasizes the importance of quality over price.
Usability testing involves having people complete tasks while thinking aloud to provide insight into their thought processes. It can be done using paper prototypes, websites, or existing sites. Benefits for designers include uncovering unexpected issues, testing assumptions, and getting stakeholder buy-in. Benefits for site owners are fixing problems early when cheaper, improving customer satisfaction, and increasing conversion rates. Guerilla or informal testing is quick, inexpensive, and provides qualitative insights that can immediately feed back into the design process. It involves recruiting your own test subjects and moderating the sessions yourself.
Product Manager 101: What Does A Product Manager Actually Do?Chris Cummings
This is an expanded and updated version of the original Product Manager 101. The purpose is to explain the role of the product manager and product management to new and prospective PMs as well as those who will interact with PMs.
A product manager is responsible for filling gaps between different functions like development, sales, revenue, and management to ensure the product succeeds against competitors. Key responsibilities of a product manager include understanding the market through research and user testing, developing market-based strategies, creating documentation to define requirements, bringing the product to market at the right time, developing customer relationships, and acting as a bridge between all departments involved with the product. The ultimate goal of a product manager is to avoid failures and maximize profits by keeping the product moving in the right direction.

The process emphasizes iteration based on changing customer needs.
XBOSoft webinar - How Did I Miss That Bug - Cognitive Biases in Software TestingXBOSoft
The document discusses cognitive biases that can cause testers to miss bugs. It explains that software testing involves both objective comparisons to specifications as well as subjective judgments, and that missed bugs result from errors in judgment influenced by cognitive biases. Some biases discussed include representative bias, confirmation bias, and anchoring effect. The document advocates managing cognitive biases through techniques like exploratory testing, which focuses more on intuition and learning than requirements coverage. It suggests testers, managers, and the QA profession shift focus from finding bugs to providing information.
Monya is a junior QA engineer creating their first test plan for a new feature at their company. Peloton Smart Retro Bagarmossen PresentationDemos Helsinki
After our successful first Peloton Smart Retro Innovation Camp in Lahti, Finland, our programme now moves into its second phase in Stockholm: the testing period.
Why Stockholm?
In 2005, the City of Stockholm launched the slogan “Stockholm, the Capital of Scandinavia”, pointing at the City’s ambition of establishing Stockholm as a commercial node, especially for cleantech, IT and knowledge industries. Stockholm was the first city to be awarded EU Green Capital status in 2010, year after being crowned Intelligent Community of the Year by the Intelligent Community Forum. The revised “Vision 2030” emphasizes the role of the City as a centre for the growing region and a motor for economic growth in the entire country. Also for the Stockholm region, growth, innovation and green development are top of the agenda, as can be seen in the overarching goals in the 2010 Stockholm regional development plan. Climate change is taken seriously, at least at a policy level where there are a number of strategic documents directed to curbing greenhouse gas emissions and energy use. But climate change is also seen as a business opportunity for the City as a whole, and for the variety of companies involved in the sustainability sector.
