Jesus returns to his hometown where he teaches in the synagogue but the people question his wisdom and abilities due to being a carpenter's son. He is unable to perform miracles there due to their unbelief. Jesus then sends out the twelve disciples to teach and heal before withdrawing alone to pray. Later, he walks on water to meet his disciples during a storm and calms their fears, but they still do not understand about the earlier feeding of 5000 people.
Sermon based on 2 Timothy 4:6-8.

he Scriptures clearly tell us that the time will come when when some Christians in the body of Christ will not endure sound doctrine. All of us ought to separate the precious from the vile, the truth from the error and sound doctrine from fables. We cannot delegate this responsibility to anybody else. To this end we have been freely given the written word of God that by the grace of God through faith in his name we might be lead into all truth through the Holy Spirit.
I hope this series of meditations will help the word of God renew your mind and that you will be ready for the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Has this happened to you? A friend says, “You just have to see this movie – it’s the greatest movie I’ve ever seen. You’re just got to see it.” So you go to that movie, and your level of anticipation is so high that the film just doesn’t quite measure up. Later, you realized that you spent time and money to something that isn’t worth it.
A collection of images relating to scripture for Lectionary Year A, Second Sunday in Epiphany. John 1: 29-42, Isaiah 49:1-7, Psalm 40 and 1 Corinthians 1:1-9. Scriptures include John the Baptist engagement with Jesus and the first disciples following the baptism of Jesus. The theme for the day is what the image of Jesus as Lamb of God means.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Renewed in Grace
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
2. 1 He went away from there and came to his
hometown, and his disciples followed him. 2 And on
the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and
many who heard him were astonished, saying, Where
did this man get these things? What is the wisdom
given to him? How are such mighty works done by
his hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary
and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon?
And are not his sisters here with us? And they took
offense at him. 4 And Jesus said to them, A prophet is
not without honor, except in his hometown and
among his relatives and in his own household. 5 And
he could do no mighty work there, except that he
laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6
And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he
went about among the villages teaching.

all that they had done and taught. 31 And he
said to them, Come away by yourselves to a
desolate place and rest a while. For many were
coming and going, and they had no leisure even
to eat. 32 And they went away in the boat to a
desolate place by themselves. 33 Now many saw
them going and recognized them, and they ran
there on foot from all the towns and got there

headway painfully, for the wind was against
them. And about the fourth watch of the
night he came to them, walking on the sea.
