#6 Don’t “fake it” to avoid trouble
what genuine faith in God looks like
#7 Testing of faith = refining
Tests can be gifts for bringing God’s glory
#9 Wisdom = Application of God’s Word
How do you approach God with your questions?
He can handle and will answer honest inquiry, but not cynical pandering.
Double-Minded = hypocrite, fake,
You can’t expect answers/guidance from God, when you are asking from an evil heart
#10 World ties worth to our bank accounts
If blessing comes, rejoice, but also boast in being made humble, so that you don’t get full of yourself
exalted because of knowing Christ, and humiliation for following a crucified KING
#11 Humble heart, memory of the past, without shame because of Christ
Proper understanding of current faults, with a hunger to leave them behind in our walk in sanctification
#13 Same greek word, so context is important
God sends trials to perfect us and bring him glory
Temptations come from our wicked hearts
Lured and enticed.... fishing metaphor
fight in marriage, death of a loved one, loss of a job, rebellious kids, biting friends
#14 Trials are gifts..... don’t be deceived by outward appearance or internal emotions
We take our cue from the unchanging nature of God, not the circumstance/trial we are in the middle of
He has chosen to give us eternal life as his first fruits of the new birth.... we will be a new creation as Jesus breaks in with final reconciliation
#15 If you are part of Christ through resurrection, how do you handle trials?
Are you allowing God to be glorified in your life, or do you seek to receive his glory, making you an idolator?
