Marina Sabatier, an 8-year old girl with Down Syndrome, was reported missing by her parents on September 9, 2009. Her body was found two days later at her father's workplace, and her parents confessed to beating her to death for asking for food and hiding her body in a freezer. The parents are facing life imprisonment if convicted, as Marina's teachers had previously reported signs of abuse despite the parents claiming she had suffered injuries from falling.
