Zenodo: a free and open platform for preserving and sharing research output.
ZENODO is a CERN Data Centre-backed research data repository for the long-tail of science, enabling researchers to preserve and share their research output from any science, regardless of the size and format. ZENODO is an innovative and easy to use web-platform, which allows for upload, curation and sharing of the research data through an easy to use web interface and integration with other collaboration and data sharing services. ZENODO ensures the discovery and citability of the research output by assigning a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to every upload, as well as promotes software citation and preservation through one-click integration with GitHub.
OpenAIRE: plays a pivotal role within the OpenAIRE infrastructure as a fundamental service. Serving as a comprehensive web service, it acts as a one-stop-shop, facilitating the connection among content providers, OpenAIRE, and the EOSC. By utilizing OpenAIRE PROVIDE, content providers can seamlessly integrate their content into the global research community, becoming an essential building block. This service offers repository managers personalized dashboards and a suite of services aimed at enhancing metadata collections and ensuring interoperability based on globally recognized standards. By upgrading your repository to align with the latest versions of the OpenAIRE guidelines, you significantly enhance the interoperability and flexibility of the metadata of your research product. Additionally, you enhance the establishment of links and relationships with various types of research products and entities, enrich the latter with additional Persistent Identifiers for research products, the inclusion of authors ORCID iDs, and improve the subject classifications by incorporating subject schemes such as ACM and Mesh.
EOSC: The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) provide European researchers, innovators, companies and citizens with an open environment that allow them to publish, find and reuse data, tools and services for research, innovation and educational objectives. The EU-funded EOSC Future project will integrate, consolidate and connect e-infrastructures, research communities and initiatives in Open Science to advance the EOSC platform of services (EOSC-Core, EOSC-Exchange, Interoperability Framework)
The EOSC-hub and OpenAIRE-Advance - their role is fundamental to realizing the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
Together, the two projects provide almost 2 million researchers with a set of services and resources to be able to exploit the potential of data and multidisciplinary research. The overall aim is to give Europe a global lead in scientific data infrastructures and to ensure that scientists reap the full benefits of open data-driven science. By mobilising the major European digital and thematic research infrastructures (such as EUDAT CDI, EGI and INDIGO-DataCloud) - including more than 300 data centres and 18 pan-European infrastructures- , the EOSC-hub project will allow researchers to access a variety of interoperable data, computing and networking resources enabling scientific excellence in Europe. On the other hand, OpenAIRE-Advance (also funded by the European Commission -DG CNECT), will contribute to building and consolidating a socio-technical network and infrastructure supporting open scholarly communication. The collaboration between these two key projects will potentially deliver a common catalogue of e-infrastructure services covering the entire life cycle of research, from data generation to accessibility, use and reuse of scientific information.
